Dude that splitter looks sick. What material did you make it out of? How far does it go back? Any flex? So awesome!

It's made out of aluminum composite material (similar to alumalite it goes back to front subframe) with minor flex (flex at 140+ mph). i damaged it at the track so I'm doing a new one with custom apr carbon piece. I would recommend plywood if you are on a budget.

How much is that material and where do you get it from?

I really hate plywood cause I tried 1/2 inch and I still got flex... Need like 3/4? is what people usually say, but that is so heavy.....

any help would be appreciated to source this.

3/4" plywood is crazy. I've seen many people getting away with 1/2" birch plywood. I'd go over your mounting provisions and make sure everything is properly supported.

I've also heard great things about alumilite composite panel and probably what I'll go with. There's also stuff that's called Dibond that's similar, but it's not a strong as per anecdotal chatter.

Yeah, its get away with but really even 1/2" home depot birch play is terrible.... Not a fan.

I can get dibond through someone local, but he said his all his supplier isn't carrying alumalite... Apparently its being phased out in signage industry due to cost....

Alumalite would be my first choice, but hard to find

You can always make it more rigid by skinning it in fiberglass and perhaps getting away with 3/8". Again, maybe you can make the mounting provisions more robust.
Keep in mind, nothing is going to be perfectly rigid. There will always be some flex, and even if there is, how much is it actually taking away from what you are trying to achieve? A small change in driver skill goes a much longer way than flex in a splitter.

14's been on stanby all season and managed to get out just few weeks ago at local course in southern ontario. Car responded well to my winter updates; rear multi-link and solid member bushings out back, 2 pot rear brakes and 4.3 final update.

i used 9mm. This was not light by any means. i think plywood would weigh about the same. i'm using APR carbon splitter custom cut and will be putting in on.

I've developed, machined and have been testing/using some new brake goodies on my S14 VQ endurance race car that some of you road race guys may be interested in.

1st is a rear 2-piece rotor Wilwood BBK for OEM S-chassis and Z32 uprights that utilizes heavy duty Wilwood/Coleman 12.2" x 0.81" rotor rings, and a Wilwood 4 piston caliper that brings braking balance (among a bunch of other pros) back to ideal if you already have a front BBK (and are using Z32 rears). This is the only kit on the market that doesn't require you to chop off the OE upright caliper mounting ears.

The next thing is that radial mount caliper bracket I shared a few posts earlier that is now ready for production. Again, this bracket uses Wilwood FSL6R calipers (6 piston, staggered) to convert Defsport's front BBK from the Wilwood lug mount 4 piston FSL, or for those that don't have Defsport, this bracket can also be used with off-the-shelf Z33 track/brembo sized rotors and FSL6R's.

Hey guys, new to this thread, but not new to Zilvia!

Short story; started racing in 2014. Dove head first by picking up this Evo off a friend in Chicago. Drove 20 hours there and back straight to get it, I was so excited!

Drove all over the east coast with NASA, GTA, NARRA and local events - I loved going fast! My Evo was pretty reliable too. Stock Motor + Cams + Race Gas tune/ Ohlins/ TRE 12 disc diff and as LIGHT as possible. I loved this car! 280whp @ 2850lbs landed me in TT3 territory.

Won tons of Time Attack events, Time Trials with NASA, and learned so much! Had an absolute blast with this car. Unfortunately, it all ended when a shop I partnered with for so long parted out my Evo (With all new upgrades for the new season; new motor, rebuilt Ohlins, new AP Racing Comp Brakes etc and scrapped the shell. It was heartbreaking.

But, I have a new chassis to start with and I'll be updated my build thread with future plans and updates.

Owned by me. They liquidated the company when I was in Japan. I asked for them to move everything to a storage unit (they closed within 2 weeks of announcing) and I told them I’d pay for moving, but the car was already stripped of its parts. $2500 custom dual element wing gone too. Brand new. Thrown away. So pissed.

I got nothing and had to hear from a third party about what had happened. All of their employees that scrapped and took parts blocked me on all social media. I’ve been tagged in numerous FS threads of the parts.

I’ll be using a GTST Type M. Goal is 250-300hp. Light weight. Fiberglass panels, basic splitter, and single element wing. 245-265’s.

This past summer after years of drifting, I took it upon myself to give lapping a try and now have been bitten by the bug pretty bad.

I did the first track day with the car as is. Did a thorough bolt check, changed the fluids and bled the brakes. I ran it with used Zestino tires up front, cheap china tires in the rear and standard brake pads.

The car was a little loose but the 225s in the rear seemed to be enough to withstand the 230hp ish the car puts down.

The glaring issue was the brakes so before the next track day I upgraded to Powerstop Trackday pads all around. They worked really well considering they are 1/2 the price of Hawks but are noisey / dusty. The next track day I was more confident on the brakes and was able to progress a little more.

I think what I enjoy about lapping and trackdays is that you can see and monitor progression and find weak points in the car. I havent even tried timing myself yet.

I'm excited for next season (winter here now) as I have some Ns2r to try. And I think I will play it safe and install an oil cooler.

Thanks! The best thing is to just go out and try. It was a little strange being outside my usual element but just know the proper track etiquette and you'll do fine

So far, My friend and I have been the only two at the track with R chassis. Both GTST's but his is Rb26 swapped with about 550+ at the wheels. Its hard for me to keep up

COngrats and welcome! Those look like two beasts.... Two things i always do now to prevent big issues.

Upgrade brake fluid and lines. Fluid Motul RBF600 and steel lines for sure. Helps a lot.

Pads are expensive, but you can swap them in and out after events. I love cobalt pads really and lot of confidence and no fade.

Also check all your hoses. If anything is older than 5 years, change them. One pin hole leak = blown engine.... Trust me I know :'(

But so jealous other people can run R chassis' on the street. Stupid california...
