i have a 1995 se and i was driving on the highway and my sunroof was open, i started to smell something burning, not reallyt like oil, then some smoke started to come out of the gear box. I get the smell everytime i am driving in 5th gear. Has anybody else had the same problem? Does anybody know how to fix it? Any help would be appriciated. thanks

I had the same problem with my Corvette. 3 different mechanics checked it out, and found no problems. Our conclusion was road crap comming up through the shift boot. If that isn't the case, try changing to a thicker gear oil in your tranny.

if it was my clutch... it would be slippin which it is not doin. It is grabbin pretty good. I was doin some research and found someother s14 owners were having the same problem... They found out it was the transmission seals were leaking, causing the the fluid to drip onto the exhaust... as so they say.... i hope that is what it is.
