KA24DE Compression Test without Intake Manifold

Quick background. I have an s14 motor that has been sitting for a while now. I forget if it was in running condition or not when pulled. As it was sitting I started pulling parts off it. My question is if it possible to run a compression test without the intake manifold on it? I just want to throw on a starter with spacers and turn it over for the test. If you have any knowledge about it let me know.

The valve opens, air goes in, the valve shuts, compression occurs.

The intake manifold only gets in the way. Would that all compression tests occur with no intake manifold.
