front main seal leak

Was wondering if its common for the front mail seal to leak oil and what are the most common oil leaks on the KA motor?

At the mileage your engine is probably at, there will be a lot of leaks. The crank seal is only about a 30 min job though.

Rear and front seals could start leaking as early as 130k, my zenki is a perfect example of this. - get to them before they coat the underbody of your car in oil. Now at 160k it is showing signs of valve cover leakage

I started having leaks practically since I got the car in '97 with 39k. Rear crank seal then oil pan seal replaced at end of '99. Oil pan twice since, rear crank again, rear main seal once and a year ago front crank and valve cover gasket (second)

Leaks or seepage?

When I got my S14 (odo@220k), it had a front main seal, oil presure sending unit, exhaust, water pump (couple hundred miles later), and powersteering resevior leak. Replaced them all*, and now only have a minor oil pan & pwr steering res. seepage, 104K miles later. No leaks, just a light coating of grime.

leaks. PS was ruined at the dealer when they replaced the oil pan gasket under warranty. Rebuilt rack that was put in started leaking 8 yrs later then another rack was put in 2011 that had a pinion problem where it didn't go back to center and started leaking in 2013. So it was sent off to be rebuilt but they only filled it up probably just less than halfway up in the reservoir. Started making buzzing noise then added dextron to it but now the steering wheel is easier to turn left and stays just to the left off center. So don't know if its the pinion or what.

it still amazes me how many disbelieve when I say "wash the engine" or "get in there with some simple green..."

How can you not know what everything is, what it does and how water proof it is? I mean sheesh XD

and you depend on this...
