Boost issues?

Ok, 1990 S13 w/RB25DET S1. Just did a partial rebuild on the cylinder head, previous owner decided to dill to china on an already ruined exhaust manifold bolt and then try to helicoil it. Had to fix it and yes it was the back end " top" bolt and where an oil galley runs. But had it fixed "correctly" buy a good friend of mine. New valve seals, mls top end gaskets, new greddy timing belt, water pump, thermo, new tension pulleys, new crank pulley, new oli pan ( bent near pick up cuz the kid drove it way to low in a shit road town )wiring specialties full harness to S13. Drove like a beast before I fixed the bolt and then went to town on everything else, now sadly I'm confounded that my boost is gone but still got the sound of it. One thing I have noticed is that I hear a very "audible" clicking noise from my VVT solenoid when I'm at the engine bay and just slightly move the throttle by hand. Unplugged it while running and did the same thing, no noise. i have checked and re checked my charge pipe coupling for boost leaks ( have not made a proper boost leak test set up yet tho), nothing. un bolted the neg wire from the batt for 30 min. Drove it, full boost no problems. Turn it off let it heat soak for a bit, start it up and still have boost. Sits over night and then boost is gone again when I go to drive to work. Also my boost gauge reads boost psi but dont get the power in the car, feels like a loud NA engine now with a frilly bov noise. Anyone got any ideas? VVT problems?
