Help me in getting KA out of S14 without taking trans out

See title. I am swapping KA's since my took a shit on me. I would rather not have to drop the trans too. The engine is still bolted to the tranny with the bolts that run top dead center and the ones to the left and the right.

How in the world do I get to them?

I took a long ratcheting wrench and went in from the engine bay to get thost bolts off. In the past I tilted the engine back and just used a lot of extensions but you lose a lot of torque that way.

some wobbly's and some extensions and some nimble fingers. or you can lower the crossmember a little bit to make it easier and tilt it back. or just drop the whole crossmember and moror and trans out of the bottom and slid it out from underneath.

Hmm....

The long ratcheting wrench seems to be the way to go.

Same as in most cars, long extension(s), swivel(s), the right size socket (14mm in this case) and a strong ass 1/2" impact wrench.

It's a bitch but definitely doable, strip as much shit from back there as possible.

I did it on an SR, I'm sure the KA is easier

Wait? You're trying to leave the transmission attached to the car while removing the engine? You cant do that. The main mounting point for the trans is at the engine while the trans mount only stabilizes the tail section. The trans mount isn't strong enough to hold the trans alone.

Besides, it'll be much easier to attach the trans to the engine while out of the car.

I had planned to brace the trans with a jack.

Apparently I'm the only one who has never had an issue getting these bolts out with a good old fashioned wrench on both KA's and SR's. At most I have to use another wrench for leverage. Never had to angle the engine or anything, they're usually the first bolts I remove.
