Unhappy S13 KA-DE hesitation accelerating, die on idle, black smoke comes out

Hi all,

Here comes a bunch of problems again.

Ever since I replaced the O2 sensor, my car was put into limp mode. I sprayed some MAF sensor cleaner into my MAF sensor and it ran good for another 2 weeks.

Now my car starts up with the limp mode again. I tried sprayed MAF sensor cleaner again and no luck. Unplug my battery for 15 mins and tap the brake pedal couple times to reset the ecu and still no luck.

Today after driving for 15 mins, I was not in limp mode anymore but the car still hesitate to accelerate and black smokes coming out from the exhaust. My friend checked my spark plugs and they have carbon built up on the tip so my car is running rich I guess. i checked the surrounding of the fuel injectors and they don't seem to have any leak. When I open the gas cap and I feel the pressure coming out.

What can cause the problem? I googled it and vacuum line, fpr, tps, injector leaks, and knock sensor can cause the problem...

You can only check the outer o rings of the injectors by checking for visible fuel leaks on fuel rail, the inside ones are the ones u need to check. Connect a fuel pressure gauge and see if it hold pressure, if it doesnt ur o rings are possibly leaking by and fuel is pouring into the engine so that will cause u to run rich, you can verify by pulling fuel rail off with fuel lines connected and turn ignition on, u will see fuel leaking from tip of injectors

Knock sensor issues will make it run a little rich but not by much.

Limp mode is MAF issue. An O2 sensor is not going to make the car go into limp mode unless something is terribly wrong with wiring.

Try a known good MAF

A bad MAF will cause the car to go into limp mode, can cause hesitation, prevent revving past 2,500krpm.
Check that the socket connectors are good and not loose, make sure the male terminal pins on the maf side are straight and not bent. Last if that doesn't solve it get a good maf, even a z32 maf will work I believe. ^_^

i'm wondering if MAF can cause the problem of running rich... or would it have to be something like timing and injector orings...
