SR20DET FM Intercooler No Bumper Cutting

Hey guys,

I have searched and looked at every intercooler thread in this sub-forum.

Besides trying to locate a JDM Blitz or ARC aftermarket side-mount intercooler, is there a smaller FMIC option that does not involve cutting the bumper/crash support or bumper itself on an S13? (Not interested in a v-mount or top mount.)

I am really not concerned with making much power on my SR20 I just want to avoid heatsoak on the intercooler since I live in AZ and like to auto-X every now and then.

Thanks!

Wade

I am wondering about this CXR intercooler kit, if it requires bumper cutting. I might call this company. I wonder about the included BOV though, if it's good quality...

I am going to be recirculating my BOV since I am keeping the stock MAF system.

get one that is not very tall...they should be able to mount below the bumper support, they do heat soak a little easier but should accomplish what you are looking for.

cx racing is NOT quality. its pretty much the cheapest thing you can get.

it looks like you need to piece together a kit, look into spearco intercooler cores. they come in many different sizes and configurations

Thanks for the heads up! I will check into spearco. I guess most SR20 "bolt-on" kits are pretty big, so I will probably have to go universal and fit everything myself?

Anyone have an idea on dimensions on a core that will fit nicely?

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. Any idea on the dimension difference to an S13 SMIC?

I found this universal Mishimoto intercooler 28 X 7.5 X 2.5 inches on FRS & Amazon.
http://www.frsport.com/Mishimoto-MMI...k_p_24024.html

Sources say this intercooler can handle 22psi of boost (I plan 10).

I wonder if this would fit with minimal bumper cutting on my Silvia?

When comparing the Blitz SE, Greddy LS, & ISR intercooler kits they all seem to be approximately 24 X 11 X 3 inches. And rates for upwards of 400HP which is far above what I'm shooting for, especially with a stock T25.

What do you think? Just need a 2.5 inch piping kit.

Thanks!
