No start after new fuel pump?

Alright, so after having my fuel pump go bad about a week and a half ago, I finally had a buddy put in a p2m 340lph. The car started and seemed ok with no hiccups. After driving about 15 feet, it stalled out and refuses to start since then.

Is it possible that I'm just not getting voltage to the fuel pump now?

First step I would say it to check fuses and such. When you turn your ignition on(without cranking the engine) can you hear the fuel pump prime?

Changed out the fuses, started and ran for 30 seconds before going out again. Would this still be a symptom of fuel lines being backwards, or does it seem that I'm now dealing with a short.. Perhaps bad relay ?

just take out the hose going to the rail turn the key on, and see if gas comes out,
jeez
all you have to do is take off 1 hose clamp
that do alot of diagnosing

Does your car have gas in it? Also could just pull off the fuel feed line as stated above...

There's gas in the car. Lines are fine. Changed out fuses again, got it to run for 15 minutes before it not starting again. Did find this though ImageUploadedByTapatalk1444334071.414082.jpg wire broken off.. Could this be the source of the problem?

If it keeps popping fuses you have a short to ground somewhere in the circuit. The wire hanging off is an obvious place to start.

Yeah, that's what I was figuring. Problem is now, the pump isnt priming at all. Either that wire, which I tried taping and rigging with no success.. Or I'm stumped at this point

So with the wire rigged up the pump won't turn on at all? Did the wire break when installing the pump or was it like that as soon as you took the cover off ? It's possible it not a short and your pump is pulling too much power and overloading the circuit

Correct. I had a friend install the pump while I was at work (working 60+ hours ) , so I can't confirm. If indeed the pump is overloading the circuit , how would I remedy this? I'm going to attempt another ECU as well .

if the pump is overloading the circuit the pump is no good. wouldnt be the first new pump that didnt work. unfortunately based on what youre telling me getting this figured out is going to be above your skill level. my advice is to fix that wire and see if that works. if that doesnt fix it you need to take it to a shop and have someone trouble shoot it. It would be cheaper than throwing parts at it

Gotcha. I replaced the Isis 255 that the previous owner had installed with a p2m 340. I'm starting to think now that the pump wasn't the issue from jump. Anyhow, Taking it in was my next course of action . Appreciate the help

It's a ground wire from what it looks like. You can't just tape it to that dirty ass connection.

Well I'm by no means versed in anything electrical . Perhaps soldering the connection will cure my woes. I'll give it a shot tomorrow if I can. Appreciate it guys

It still needs to be scrubbed clean.

You will wind up melting what's on the other side from the iron before you get a good solder on there.

Try bench testing the pump.

Remove from the fuel tank, and test it with a 12v battery

Has the pump been run dry? Can easily fry the bearings making them useless.
Theres a relay for the pump, check that. Also check the ECCS relays as they control the pump functions.

I wouldnt hold my breath. If youve already tried touching the ends together and nothing happened it probably wont fix it. With that being said the wire is obviously damaged. Id investigate it, It could be grounded out somewhere it shouldnt be.

Any luck? Might have to break out the multimeter. Jdm Legion has good diagrams if you end up needing them. Check the wires on the pump for proper function, and although it may sound stupid, make sure you have it wired correctly. My Gtr pump fit in fine but there were some loose wires left, as those pumps adjust their duty cycle in a gtr according to how much fuel they need to pump. In an S chassis it is running hard no matter what.

Thanks sills. I'll have to check it out when I get some time off work later this week. I conveniently had an appointment at TF works, so hopefully it'll be like having a whole new car in the next week or so.
