Electric 240sx Gang Thread?!!?

So, obviously electric cars are being talked about way more often now-a-days. It's a thing, and it probably won't be going away anytime soon. Seeing that I don't plan on getting rid of my 240sx anytime soon, I figure one day I'd probably like to throw in an electric motor in the 240.

So, let's talk about that. Obviously there won't be a lot of people who have experience with this. But from what I gather, the chassis isn't what makes it difficult to do, it's just knowing how an electric motor system works is the hard part.

This isn't a thread for everybody, and it's not a thread that needs to be bumped every fucking day.

If you hate LS1 swapped 240s...this thread isn't for you.
If you consider yourself a "purist" this thread is definitely not for you, and you should kys anyways.

I guess I should actually post a question since I'm starting this, to get things rolling.
What do I need to do to turn my 240sx into an electric vehicle?

Absolutely love this, being in California I have seen firsthand some of the products that EV West puts out. Absolutely insane, their BMW all electric has nasty torque. I am curious on the life cycle of the batteries and all the weight that is added might need to be the full hatch/trunk area. I know that they have two main setups, either electric motors on each wheel or an electric motor that is connected directly to the rear end via driveshaft.

Its not unheard of, but definitely a different experience. Granted you are limited by how many trips/laps you can do due to the battery capacity. In all practicality, it really comes down to can you adjust your life around charge schedules and how do you manage it when youve gone to a track.

He says it takes a few hours for a full charge on his 50a charger - I charge my 2 battery truck on 50a starting... a swappable system and/or better chargers could allow considerable time.

Which is expensive, but so is race gas.
