yes it will meowth. you just have to shorten your driveshaft 1 inch due to the ABS sensor. unless yo have ABS already then it will bolt right in.

What exactly goes into shortening the drive shaft? What is the difficulty? Expense? Thanks!

Why does the 240sx LSD cost $150 more than the J30 LSD?

Ok guys here are the two answers. One the J30 is a 3.92 gear which means it will be better off in a Turbo car hence me keeping the low mileage J30 VSLD I have current. Into my car it goes:biggrin:

Two , a lot of people just have to have a Genuine 240sx VLSD with 4.08 gears
they are a either afraid of putting in the J30 or B are aware of the slight gearing difference and are afraid of it affecting there off the line performance. Truth is unless your drag racing on a regular basis you won't notice it. Its probably a 1/10-4/10's of sec difference. those figures are only guess work seeing as their are a lot of variables that could actually change them so an accurate figure would need to be done with two stock cars with the two different rear ends setup in the exact same way. LIkelyhood?? not .:)
I have after extensive research into the issue concluded that throwing the J30 rear end in my car now before I have done my Turbo setup will not affect my acceleration adversly so in it goes.
And up for sale goes the 240sx VLSD. oh yeah new price $400 today $425 tomorrow so speak up or hold your peace

blackout, if you need to shorten your driveshaft a drive shaft shop can do it for like $50, Ok if your car is a 95 or newer you do not need to worry about that. If its an S13 it may or may not need I will get some more info on that shortly.

hey freaq, would swapping an s13 lsd into an s14 require shortening the driveshaft?

Omega , the simplest way to see if you have VLSD is to jack up the rear of your car out of gear. of course block your front wheels:biggrin: then have a friend grab a wheel and hold it as you spin the other if it fights him and rotates the same direction you are rotating then its VLSD if it stays still or goes the opposite direction you have a open rear end.
no Vancouver putting a S13 VLSD in a S14 will bolt right in you just need to put the back cover off your stock rear end on the S13 VLSD because S13 covers were 4 bolt and S14 were 2 bolt

so basically the higher price is due to the higher demand for this item..
