Found a small piece of metal inside the oil pan of an sr20det. attached the pic. seems to be aluminum but i cant figure out where it came from. no other metal shavings.

Looks like a fossil to me. Just how old is that engine ?!

Probably something from the block casting that finally worked itself loose.

yup looks like casting to me too..might recommend compression test to ensure not piece of cylinder or piston...also make sure you aren't mixing coolant an oil...
