Selling my Audi - Buying s14 240sx
I own a 2002 audi A4 1.8t which I can get $5.5-6k max for. Long story short, it's been my dream since I was a kid to own a beastly s14, which I will now pursue.
I plan on getting a Zenki S14, preferably a shell in good condition for under 2 gran, and using the remaining money which should be about 4k to drop an sr20det in. I've heard of some local guys even charging close to $2500 for the swap, then I would have enough money left for a front end conversion to kouki or possibly s15 or a paint job or whatever. My question is: Would it be cheaper to do what I plan or to try and find an s14 with already an sr20det swapped in for under 6k if possible? It just hit me that craigslist isn't the only option and that there are huge communities like this one where I can maybe find what I'm looking for. I really want to make the right move, so thanks in advance for the help. |

Registration of a shell then with an "illegal motorswap" aside.
Usually shells are hood rat as fuck. Now if you find a clean shell with a blown motor, that would be more your speed. For some reason, 240 owners think you need to tune the shit out of the chassis and in doing so ALWAYS dick up wiring or something painful like that. As far as an sr20det, do more research. $2k for the motor another $500 for installing it yourself and you just pray that the motor is 100% perfect. I'd look into atleast a minor overhaul of the motor, dont worry about a FMIC and install. GL man, you need to research and write out costs. Motor swap will nickle and dime you to death.

So would you say it is a better idea (if I think it's even possible) to find a good condition s14 with an sr20det already swapped out? |
