I've done it before...never had a problem.
P.S. How long did you leave your lights on for?....I left my lights, AND my electric fan, on for over 3 hours accidently and my optima still started my car no problem. |

Optima's usually don't die very easily...I'd check to see if something is putting a drain on your battery when your engine is off perhaps. If so, that, combined with the headlights staying on, is probably why it died.
