KA KA Timing Issues

Just put a new ka into my s13 to replace one I spun a bearing on. The new motor was in an s14 so it had an s14 distributor. I swapped over the intake manifold and accessories from the s13 motor and put them on the new motor. I pulled out the distributor on the old motor at TDC and put it on the new motor at TDC. After installing the motor and firing it up it runs.

The motor has issues idling, I put a timing light on it and it looks like the timing was pretty far off. I redid the timing with the distributor cap and rotor pointing to #1 cylinder plug. The motor will not even turn on, so I assumed I may have put it on tdc on the wrong stroke, so I switched it and it still would not run. So i put it back to how it was, which when you put a timing light on it, you can not even see the timing marks on the crank pulley.

Any insight into what might be the solution to my issue would be helpful, thanks!

This sucks but here is a little secret to stabbing the distributor perfectly every time:
Pull the Vavle cover and then put the crank at TDC with cylinder one cam lobs pointing opposite of each other. At this point you need to observe the hash mark on the aluminum housing of the dizzy and the actual indention on the drive wheel that connects to the idler pulley. You want to be able to line those two markings up once you have installed the distributor which you will be able to see from the top with a flashlight. As long as the dot and hash mark are perfectly lined up with the motor at TDC compression stroke. The motor will fire right up every time and you will be able to time your motor perfectly.
