95 s14 KA odo reads 26X,XXX. Put over 40,000 miles on it last year. Going to swap in a fresher KA in a month or two. The amount of blue smoke coming from my exhuast depresses me

this was my daily for 2 years. had 227k on it, i had a rebuilt ka that had only 10k miles on it before i swapped it into my current chassis. this thing was so rusty there was more then 1 occasion a jackstand went through the car or the interior carpet would get soaked from all the holes.

I'm at 196k on a 95 S14. Engine's on its dying breath. HG is leaking causing the car to suddenly overheat ever so often, its burning oil and coolant, and compression is shit at 140 across the board. Previous owner decided to run the car with no fucking thermostat so the engine never got up to temp...would probably explain the shitty compression.

i'm on an auto KA that I converted to manual at 146k. it's now at 223k and i'm sure it will last a while longer, but it's not getting the best gas mileage and i already have a daily driver waiting on the side. I'm not sure I can beat the OP, but nearly 500K on original engine. i think that is unheard of.

My current s13 has 283,xxx and I got it a few months back, Its on it's second motor by choice haha
My Ls400 that I had before had 235,xxx and had one previous owner (bought it from my mom lol) but it was in perfect condition and ran really strong till my roommate backed into it all high one day in his Durango and totaled it My first s13 had a problematic OD that only worked like 1/4 of the time and it had 218,xxx so you know that the mileage had to be higher it was on its second engine cus I popped the KA and went Sr |

My 92 hatch has around 229,xxx on it, but it's got a blacktop SR in it with around 2,300 on it now. Still going strong, but looks kinda like a turd.
My 89 coupe has 110,xxx on it. When I bought it about five years ago it only had 95,xxx. |

As of today,
My KA runs like a champ. Needs an oil pan gasket as it leaks a little bit of oil but I've never had any problems other than the ignition switch every once in a while. I'm the third owner, all FL. Bought it earlier this year at around 205. 5-speed and my daily! She used to look a lot better as she was on 16 inch Squares

259,123mi and counting! Original SOHC, original trans (to the best of my knowledge). Only major thing that I can see has been done is the timing chain!
As for "How do you guys get the engines to last so long?", it's simple. These engines will last as long as you take care of them. KA's are some of the toughest and most reliable engines I have ever seen or heard about. Most 240 owners simply don't take care of the cars. Fix oil leaks, maintain the cooling system, belts/hoses, etc... 9 times out of 10 when a KA blows its' because it ran out of some sort of essential fluid because the owner was a jackass... |
