Put it in first, drive a few inches, stop and without letting the clutch out, firmly but gently shift into reverse.
The teeth are not lined up, it's pretty normal to have to work a manual into reverse sometimes. Don't force it, it should take about 1.3x the force of shifting into another gear, but at a more defined point. |

....No symptoms, it simply won't go?
I suppose it's possible that you did something you're not mentioning, and broke a fork or other linkage part... it's conceivable something just fell off, but very unlikely, if it's been intermittent, that points at it being your shifting technique. To be clear, you didn't just try it once? Again with the "work" it in.... sync other gears and back to reverse, roll car and back to reverse, until you can at least produce more symptoms or information. , |

That's not common with any functional transmission... but everything you say makes it sound fine, and like the gear isn't lined up, and you're shifting it like fast and the furious.... that's just not how it works, you'll have to develop some touch for it. |

As mentioned above, the gears are not lined up. I would recommend taking it apart and rebuilding it or do an inspection to see nothing it broken. My current transmission wont go into reverse but that's because the clutch is blown.
