do the 57dr have a different spoke design than the 57d? or does it just look weird in a gloss color??? the spoke looks more of a smooth arch compared to the 57d.

you might be right, i think its just because all the colors i've seen them in (white, hyper yellow, or black) have a kinda flat/matte finish so the spoke design doesn't look quite the same, whereas a shiny finish makes the lines of the spoke stand out more.
