NPR pistons and rings are about $100-$125 and are good quality oe replacements made in Japan. I've heard many car manufactures use them on their engines. Kings bearings are also great quality and cost about $75 for mains and rods. Fel Pro head studs are about $40 on rockauto, and a head gasket kit is another $40. Front and rear main seals are ~$7 each for the Fel pro which are made by Federal Mogul(same as national and a supplier for many car manufacturers). Get the oem oil pickup gasket and front cover o-ring from Nissan for about $12, everything else can be sealed up with rtv($20 for the big tube which goes a long way). Gates water pump is ~$20 on RA, tstat is $5, belts are $5-$15 each depending on brand. Borrow a ring filer and feeler gauges and gap your own rings, rent a cylinder honer and hone your block(unless it needs a bore), and just follow the fsm for all torque specs and tolerances. It's really not hard. Just take your time and make sure to dot you i's and cross your t's.
You can go further and replace timing components and front cover for about $150, but I hear mixed reviews on those oe replacement kits. You can rebuild your oil pump for about $60 using genuine parts, definitely not a bad idea.
