SR20det MAF problem

i just put a Ka24 SOHC Mass air flow sensor in my SR20det redtop. The car does not idle very well. But i also have some kind of shipped/ROM ECU. There is a switch on the ecu. When i switched it the car idle was fine. And when i switched it back it was fine too. It is very random when the idle goes stupid. But when i drive the car it drives fine until i give it wide open throttle, then it seems to bog a litle. I had previously ran an actual REDTOP MAF and it ran just fine. But when i put this one on it started acting up. Could it be that the ecu can only read REDTOP MAF and not SOHCmaf or is it just a bad MAF ?
ALSO the car can drive fine and can rev as high as it wants it doesn't have that rev limit. Its just as soon as i start to spool the car seems to be holding back or in other words bog a little. Like you know the car wants to pull but something is holding it back.

im going to assum u mean chipped/rom ECU. is there anything on the ECU to say what spec its tuned for? usually a sticker of some sort somewhere on the ECU. Furthermore this would relate to the maf problem if its tuned for a sr20 maf u might not be able to run a sohc.

First of all the sohc maf and sr20det maf is the same so it wouldnt matter.
Chipped ECU's are not something to mess with, especialy if you dont know what it is tuned for. I had this problem for 2 months because I didnt even know it was chipped. My car ran like shit when I had it running. I got an air/fuel ratio gauge and saw I ran lean at boost and it bogged just like yours did. NOT GOOD AT ALL.
Anyways people usualy chip ecu's to run a different maf and injectors. So it is possible that you wont be able to use that ecu. Just use someones else for a second to see if it fixes it.

First of all SOHC maf and SR maf are different. Do not confuse the zilvians. They are not swappable as you have to change the maf plug for that. In the SR world, people have a tuned ecu because the stock fuel map does not work with their upgrade parts. You really think spending moneys on a maf, a set of injectors and tune the ecu yield extra horsepower?

To the op, if your car ran fine with the ecu and a SR maf, leave it. If the maf is bad, replace it with the identical part. I run my sr with a sohc maf and it just does not feel right, but I cannot prove it as I never drove a sr with a sr maf.

I know it personaly does not make a difference exept the wiring. There is a little difference in numbers but not enough to notice. If it is a mail tuned ecu then the only thing they will tune for is the mafs and injectors. The reason people need it is because of a turbo upgrade and the injectors and mafs are just supporting mods.
