Have you tried switching the RUCA so that it runs on the other side of the coilover? iirc it might have slightly less clearance against the coilover but it's worth a try.

Yea, I did, talking to voodoo13 and gktech we figured it out. Flipping it around AND flipping sides worked. There is little clearance, but good enough.

Little update:
Got the engine in my tiny ass apartment 1-car garage. I forgot how big a 1j is lol. Tore right into her to replace gaskets pull a rod bearing, and general clean up: I don't know why, but this is the 2nd time I've picked up a 1j that never had it's oil changed.

Ok, went through the last page of this thread and cleaned up the stupid photobucket shit..
Picture spam of what happened last: Picked up 1990 coupe, recon title, blown steering rack, no interior. Spent way more time than I liked to get the plastidip off the damn thing. Gots to get the sound deadening out.

Kinda where I sit today:
I just got the starter installed(switching to studs was a good choice). Next week the wiring harness and clutch line/slave will get installed. After that, I need to pick up some wheels, relocate the battery in the trunk, wire that up, and install a sway bar. That'll get it running so I can hit an exhaust shop and get the exhaust done. Shooooon.

Thanks!
My little girl and I spent time(when we weren't sick) getting the little things done on the car while we wait for parts. Routed the battery cables to the front and fitted the ends, we are waiting on the circuit breakers to come. We got the fuse boxes mounted and buttoned up the front of the 1j, and checking our vacuum line routing for the apexi avcr. Buttoned up the interior and we are really happy with the Collins kit, it put the shifter pretty near stock location. Then took the console and stuff out to mount the hydro This will be the position of the hydro untill I get rid of the stock ebrake(the plate flips over to move it to drivers side). I dunno, might keep it.

OK update, got the battery installed and all wired up.
Got the heater hoses connected(that was very tight.) At this point I got the harness and installed ready to go: Moment of truth for first start....and no start. Started the trouble shooting phase: Ecu had power because the fuel pump turned on. So I started tracing wires and checking pinouts. I wired in my apexi avcr boost controller, this gave me some readouts, TPS was working fine, so was the map sensor. I then checked all the sensors, coolant, cam sensors(x2), and the crank sensor. Everything checked out. So I tried to check for codes. No cel, checked that it was wired properly, and even connected my own light to the w pin, and no light. At all. Figured it was a bad ecu, so I have one on the way. I still think it's weird that the ecu would cause no fuel AND no spark. Anyway.. Since I can't start the damn thing, I figured it would tidy up and install stuff better while I wait. So I go to mount the igniter in a better spot, and the damn thing literally falls apart : Well then, that explains the spark! Replacement on the way as well. Engine is shiny though:

Replaced the ecu, igniter, crank sensor, new plugs, added more grounds, changed a couple pack and ended up with this.
I'm thinking the open downpipe is the popping you hear.

Little update.
The popping sound was actually a misfire on cylinder #2. So I picked up a spate set if coils and replaced #2, and added a different injector for #2. Idles great at about 800-900 warmed up. Much better. Hks hi power showed up, waiting for wheels on friday to take the first drive to exhaust shop to make crossover pipe. Spending tomorrow nut and bolting everything.

Update:
got some voodoo13 outter tie rods matched with z33 inners, with some voodoo13 tension rods. Wheels showed up: Finally out for a test drive: I raised the car up some thinking the 1jz would weigh it down, seems that was not the case lol. I lowered it about an inch from that picture, and kinda worried how low the cd trans hangs down. Still no exhaust yet, have quite some work left. Kit/fenders, body work and paint after exhaust. Had no leaks(for once), everything seems really good.

I always seem to have the best of luck with this shit(Bad luck at end of post)
Been taking it slow with the test drives, and finally got out to get the exhaust done. The CD trans hangs about 2 inches below the frame rails, I had to raise the car up for the sake of my sanity. This thing is huge. It was nice to get a good look under the car, as I only had the car on jack stands. Went with a temporary solution, I figured the twins would go at some point. Drive home was awesome, car felt good, .85 bar boost, finally sounded like a 1j. Then, of course, the twins let go: No boost(like +.005 on the controller) sounds like a mini cop siren from the rear turbo. I assume since the rear let go, the front turbo won't build pressure. And now snokes like a bitch. I was planning to go single, just not this soon. If I have to remove the twins, I ain't putting twins back in.

Update
Got the twins off and inspected what was going on. The rear turbo was grinding the front cover, and the front turbo blew a seal. Fun stuff. Getting the twins out in car, seriously sucked. But single turbo setup on the way, having a jumper made for a Link ecu, so we can get this thing done.

Finally all the parts showed up.
Picked up a BorgWarner s257-sxe T4 .83 divided I have a little bit of wiring left to do today for the sensors. First start(again) should be tomorrow night. First drift event will be end of may at parc. So close.
