3rd brake light issue

Yes I have searched... a lot...

My issue is opposite of everyone elses.

My 3rd brake light doesn't work with the brakes.

Lights turn on when I turn the running lights on.

There is only 3 wires running from the hatch. All wires were checked from the blubs to the clip on the passanger side.

Bulb were replaced with 921's.

Thoughts? I am out of ideas.

not sure where to start with a Multimeter.

No wires are broke. Where to the wires go after they clip in to the main harness?

Wiring specialties has a YouTube channel about it.

That's why you need to use a multimeter to find where you have a break in you harnesses

Just do what I did for my cars safety inspection, get a red led strip, put it on the back window and wire it to your other brake lights on the trunk... Or just rewire from the 3rd light to one of the tail break lights.

I was thinking of doing a rewire to the brake lights. It is a rigging but it will work.

I started riping apart the interior again to do some more wire tracing.

Figured out the problem this weekend. Previous owner Cut the brake switch wire and ran his own custom LED strips in the tail lights. I did not notice until i had all the tails apart and they stayed on. After soldering the wire back together, removing the strips, and replacing the bulbs. All is well.
