s13 Dashboard restoration

I have been trying to buy a nice dashboard for my S13 for a month now with no luck I'm wondering if anyone knows of a company that restores them at a reasonable rate

the dash cover i believe is fiberglass. my buddy ordered one for $130, and it had some fitment issues.

personally, id remove all the old material myself, and have someone vinyl wrap it

Coverlay dash cover is ABS plastic, not fiberglass.

you could always cover the cracks by stickerbombing your dash like all the cool kids do these days

looks great!

other popular options in the 240 world today:

or just use "because racecar" as an excuse to remove it all together.

call a shop that deals with interior fixes... they can probably handle something for you.

I hit up Just dashes in Van Nuys and they quoted me 1600+. Plus a 12 week wait.

Just because something is expensive, doesnt mean you have to hate on it

While it would be nice if the price was cheaper, I dont see too many other companies out there who are willing to strip down, refurbish, and then vacuum bond a new vinyl skin onto a dash. The fact that these people exist and specialize in this work is very cool.

Seems like they justify their prices, could you do a better job than them? If yes I can understand your statement, if not you should take your own advice.

You're both on crack. If you owned a old ass ferrari or something special along the lines then it would make sense. Its a 240 for crying out loud. You could spend that 1600 on a decent set of coilovers.

Try doing this instead

I have the Coverlay and it looks good on initial test fit. I will be using it and I am very picky about my interior. 99% of people will never notice it. $120 plus free shipping from JC Whitney is hard to beat.

Something that old from the OEM and it's on back order... simply means it will never be available again.

All because the car isn't as valuable doesn't mean the amount of work is going to be less. Woulds i send my 240z dash in there... Yes. My 240sx maybe if my emotional attachement grows and there are no other options available.

Was browsing around ebay the other day and came across this. Great option for RHD guys. It's pre-stitched and ready to stretch and glue. Comes in a bunch of different stitch colors as well.

That's badass dude. The only thing I don't really like is the stitching across the dash and by the cluster. Other than that it's gorgeous.

Great option but how it really fit and how long it last?
Will that leather stretch with humid weather and then shrink like crazy when you drive out of the garage next day in dry, hot and sunny day?

Does anybody have experience with that company and stretching leather on dashboard?

Big company - 290,000 eBay sales! We should all email them to see if they can make LHD. I'd buy that in a second.

Dont buy coverlay. They are great options but degrade faster than the dash does. Also anything with a tiny bit of shine is no good for sight either at the track or just driving daily. The Gloss on the CF dash isn't good for visibility. So, here is what I did.

First remove the s13 dash. I'm sure all of you know how to do this. Or there is a search function lol

Depending on the severity of the cracks buy a can of fiberglass resin, or even just some gorilla glue 5 minute sandable epoxy. Also buy a filler. I used baking soda. I know it's weird but it worked. I also went with the resin because it finishes smoother than the epoxy and you'll need like 4-6 tubes depending on cracks. Finally buy 3 cans of matte or flat black plastidip.

Take the baking soda and pack the cracks full until you can no longer see the crack

Then, Mix up the resin and pour it evenly over the cracks wait 1 hour then sand down until smooth with 120 grit DA sander or by hand either way works of course. After that take your 3 cans of flat black or "matte" plastidip because 1 can = 1 coat. Put 3 coats of flat black plastidip and you're finished. Just install the dash after that
