KA Scratch marks near my timing chain tensioner???

So I FINNALY bought an s13 coupe, on the drive back after buying it I noticed a loud grinding noise whenever I would get on it. I did some research and read that ka24e timing chain guides are prone to going bad so I proceded to replace my chain/ guide/ and tensioner. When attempting to remove the tensioner guide I stripped the Allen key screw to hell so I ended up just replacing the chain and guide. Basically my main question is, are tensioner guides known to go bad too or was is just the guide that was causing the chain to scratch the block?? Could I just leave the stock tensioner guide in there? I'd rather not have to drill it out

Thanks for any input I'm still pretty new to this!
