Sr20 S14 with VVL head? Worth it?
Need some help....
Doing a Sr20det install. Lately I have been reading about the VVL head. My question is there a point to swapping heads from a stock S14 to a VVL? My goal for power is 300-320rwhp. Yes I know it's not much of a jump for a few add ons to get that from the stock motor. I would like to get some insight. Is it worth is or stay with the stock head? Thanks |

For that power level, no, it's not worth it. A bolt on DET can easily make those numbers and keep low-end grunt up and spool time down.

No. There is no point. You would get more benefit by googling "how to do research".

Stock sr20det engine I use them until 350-380rwhp
If I desire more than that, I go right to the 2jz-gte platform for an OEM engine that supports 500rwhp. If I need a bit more than that, another great option is the 5.3 and similar series of truck engines, very cheap and also 500~bhp capable without any work, and more with work... |
