A Question To All Of You 12v Guys

Car: 97 kouki

Car has HIDs installed. They aren't the problem. At least I don't think so. The HIDs power up fine when hard wired to the battery. The thing is on the drivers side headlight. The factory power wire for the headlight gets 12v. As soon as I hook up the HID harness power connector to it, I get nothing. No 12v or anything. Disconnect it and boom 12v is there.

Any ideas???

Faulty ground, unhook the ground from the headlight and then hookup the 12v source to verify you are not losing the 12v .

If I connect the 12v to the power wire on the ballast and then connect the ground it loses the 12v. If I disconnect the ground 12v goes back on.

Run your ground back to the battery, instead of the headlight wiring. See if it works then.

Ran the ground directly to the battery and nothing.

You still lose the 12v when you go direct to the battery negative? Take the bulb out of your working headlight and switch them to see if the problem follows the bulb.

You don't have the harness plug flipped to the hid pack do you?

Already switched blubs and it works perfectly. The harness plug can only go on one way. I've never seen something like this.

Ok so I pulled off the headlight today, and noticed that the ground for the highbeam was disconnected. Plugged it up and boom 12v to the low beam. I guess both grounds run together. Hopefully...

Thanks guys.
