Ok guys, like promised the new year is here and I have had time to work on the car. First things first I said I would get you a pic of the two cans of 3M under coating offerings. Here they are.

Like I said I've used them both in the same area next to each other and I can't tell the difference. So it seems like the pro-grade stuff is just more expensive. The ingredients seem to be the same as well. So make your own decision.

Next up was the rear subframe. I had plans to pull it and replace the bushings, but when we dropped it, it came off extremely easy, and we noticed the bushings looked new. So I dug through the receipts that came with the car and sure enough, $1248 for new subframe bushings at a repair shop in Ocala. So I decide to leave them. After hours of degreasing and scrubbing with tiny wire brushes it was clean and ready for primer.

From this:

To this:

To this:

Next up was to paint it, I wanted silver for some contrast.

I think it turned out well, and now the LCAs are at powder coat and I have the diff still to paint.

In the mean time my fiancé went to work on the trunk panels with some DuPont plastic dye. Changing them from grey to black. I think she did a nice job.

Vert top pump cover:

Rear tail light cover:

Side panels:

She also dyed the trim carpet that is glued inside the trunk. And I also installed the trunk seal and the tail lights.

The rear bumper is obviously not mounted.

Should be able to work on this about two full days a week now. The plan is to have it done for our wedding at the end of april and drive away in this car.

I worked on the car for a hot minute today. Mounted the doors back on the chassis. I have Sunday off so I will get more finished then.

Sorry for the shitty phone pics.

Actually I scrubbed it all down with a scotch brite pad. No sand paper.

The undercoat adheres to most surfaces without prep.

I had a little bit of time to work on the car today.

Got the wing and trunk lock reinstalled along with the side markers.

That's all for you Steven!!!!

Also did some work on the S14 diff, it has a cusco 1.5way and an s13 diff cover.
Painted it up with the BBQ paint because of the thickness of the paint (Rock chips and so on) and the heat rating being so high.

I have something special planned for the diff cover.

More to come in the next few days.

As I was scrolling past the pictures I said to myself "Hmm that is quite a few pictures for just the wing..." And then I see your comment.

I actually like them being there, I didn't want this car to be overly "shaved" and smooth on the body. I debated for days on shaving the antenna.

It felt good man, working on the car today felt good.

Started off I wanted to clean up the gas cap area. So I under coated the backside of it and cleaned the crap out of the cap holder on the lid. I also degreased and cleaned the rubber grommet that connects the neck to the body.

Next I focused a little on the diff so I could get the subframe and stuff back in the car. The goal is to have the rear end of the car done by the weekend.

Painted the diff cover this nice burnt sun orange gold engine paint

Installed it on the diff.

Painted the bolts black with the BBQ paint and the plus silver engine paint. I like it.

Next was cleaning up the hardware to mount the subframe
Before and afters.

I needed to clean up the extra subframe brackets and give them a fresh coat of primer and paint. No since in cutting corners.

Then it was time to get the subframe back on the car. Which was super easy for the first time in my life experience with s-chassis'.

Then we needed to get the diff in place. Which once again with two people was surprisingly easy.

That's all I had time to do today, I'm hoping to get a lot more done over the next few days.

Thanks guys.

Very very small update visually, but I got all of the rear of the car finished. Axles back in, suspension arms on, LCAs painted black and installed, brakes, everything. It was a big day for me to get everything back in without scratching it. But my hands where full so not a lot f pics were taken until it was getting dark. Sorry.

And it's a shitty pic. I'll get more Thursday.

And I installed SPL braided lines for the brakes.
