Sr20 Headache

I posted this on the small questions thread and got nothing really but here I go.

Last week: So I was having problems with my starter and I was cranking my car over because the starter wouldn't stop making the noise. While doing that smoke came out from my steering column.

Fast forward to today: I got a replacement starter hooked it all up and double checked everything and when I went to turn the car over not even a crank. I was confused I started triple checking and couldn't figured it out until I remembered the smoke. I took apart the steering column plastic to see the ignition. I found that the black and yellow wire wasn't connect which is the ignition 2. I tried soldering it back on and started it but burned right back off. I took a multimeter and it read 12v for both wire and ignition cylinder on and off. No idea where to go from here. I double checked the grounds and even changed the starter.

Fuse isn't blown, maybe my alarm has something to do with it?

Looks like you've replaced the switch, is that correct? If so, was it OEM or aftermarket? What originally "Sparked" the issue (new alarm, new radio, anything else)? Were you having any other problems before this or did this happen out of nowhere?

I never switched the switch this is the one that was in my car, also it started happening when trying to turn on my car. I was pressing down the clutch one day while the key was in the ON position and out of nowhere smoke came out of my steering wheel column. My car would turn on before but was making a weird noise that I suspected was the starter. That's it. The Upper and lower wiring harness are both brand new WS.

And you're sure it's not something broken in the switch? It's like $25 for a new ignition switch.

I hope that's what it is but, I resoldered the old one back on and it melted right back off so I don't think so
