i got 2 builds. but, im playing the waiting game and planning. my phanteks itx ryzen (parts on the way) and nzxt s130 threadripper external custom loop maybe add a chiller.

also got my old Cm haf xb with a new mobo sabertooth 990fx/ 8350/290x cf just sitting around and my current 4970k + gtx1080 on the thermaltake core v2.1. going to switch the gtx1080 to the itx and drop my fury x back.

now, looks like silicon prices is going up. so, im picking up back again. IN b4 the spike.


btw this thread is just not for pc builds but PC HW talks and games /software.

Great results but he makes a good point. by the time you add in a custom loop you are at 1080ti prices.

Same goes for a gtx1080 on a custom. I doubt he can push it any , farther maybe for better thermals. Pascal has a hard.limit passing 2100.

But keep in mind these are older games .
Wolfenstein 2 you have vega beating 1080ti.

I think right now it a great time to sit tight and wait for the next gen Nvidia to drop. Older cards will plummet in price and HOPEFULLY AMD will get their shit together with their next gen and be truly competitive out of the box.

In other news someone has coffee lake kinda working on Z170, awesome news for anyone who is on z170 or z270 and doesn't want to drop the cash for a new motherboard. Will be interesting to see what comes of this:

@ 13:30 what lacks in GCN. vega NCU was a improvement still lacks. although, raw performance should be on par with 1080ti.

here's a quick cliff note:
-GCN compatible ~ arc holding back amd
-multipurpose GPU ~ instead of all purpose gaming gpu.
-new architecture ~ takes time to mature
-lack of rasterization & PP shader
-game devs lack of use of its features.
-lack of funding R&D on the RTG division.

so its not HBM. beside hynix yield problems and delays.

vulkan is amazing. in this game sapphire vega64 pretty much hold against aib 1080Ti. OC it can even beat it.
pretty much a raw power house gaming gpu vs a multi purpose gpu.

its great, until you play a UE4 game then gets dodo performance. such garbage engine though.

to no avail. they are the unicorn gpu.

besides the miners. the scalpers are buying them. and then sell it with jacked up prices.
also most vegas goes to apple. while amd stopped making ref cards.

i had plan as a temp gpu rx580. now, they are disappearing again and prices going up.

i take back what i said earlier. vega does well on pubg.

this the big and old discussion on r/amd. vega looks super sharp and detailed. while the 1080 looks washed. this pretty much old news and its well known nvidia likes to compromise graphics for fps.



on my build...

sigh, small factor drama. looks like i got to butcher this case to make a sfx-l fit. i will not drop to a 650w sfx. just like all my wheels.
