Sr20 no oil flow please help

I just installed a sr20det red top into my s13 and everything plugged right in with a new CAS and wiring specialities harness.
We took the spark plugs off and unplugged the fuel pump to prime the oil pump except it just wouldn't prime. And the timing chain clanks on the top guide.

There is no oil on flow at all does the oil pump go bad like this? Is it because the chain is loose no oil will flow?

Update: we took the oil pan off and cleaned the oil pick up and pan. There are no dents in the oil pan. Still has no flow to the oil squirters under the valve cover.

where the oil pickup pipe fixes to the oil pump you have a rubber O ring, check yours is actually fitted/decent.

It's a metal crush gasket. Pull the cam oilers and clean them, they could have gunk inside. Also, install a mech gauge on the oil filter housing. Just because you have no immediate flow up top, doesn't mean you don't have pressure. The head is the last spot to get oil.

While you have things apart, upgrade to the newer oil pickup.

What I've done on other motors that had sat was pour oil down the filter hole to wet the pump, overfill a few quarts (if you're going to drain it soon, at least), and crank until the light goes out - a few hundred compression strokes, likely. If you've had a few sessions long enough to have to let the starter cool, I'd just start it....

Don't know about an sr specifically... but it's just like the rest.

Thanks for the replies I'll clean the cam oilers and check the o rings and gaskets

When we pulled the oil filter there was little to no oil in there as well I'll try to pour a bit from there and see if it helps out.

The oil squirted o rings are good. Tried pouring a bit of oil through the filter with no luck. Probably gonna end up taking the oil pump off and see if it's clogged. I don't think it would be though because when I cleaned the oil pick up it was spotless and the oil was pretty black but I wouldn't say dirty..
also the timing chain is loose. As in the chain tensioner is not working properly.

the chain tensioner is hydraulic and uses the oil pressure to pump up fully. so you will get a clanky chain. it still has some tension due to the ratchet mechanism.

if its a new engine or has been sat for ages I tend to remove the cam cover and pour the oil all over the cams etc.. before starting. but then I tend to fit engine with a crappy old cam cover fitted and swap the customers shiny one after as they can get bashed against the bulkhead.

We fixed it!! Thanks for the help guys we didn't think the oil pan was dented but we pushed it out a little anyway and it worked. thanks a lot guys
