Just curious, whats the rationale for running no intercooler and such a short charge pipe? Lack of space or some other reason?

I have a ton of space to run an intercooler.

Im not running an intercooler because I intend to run 100% methonal at the track and I'm hoping that will keep my temps down enough to not need an intercooler.

How will that do on the street though, when you're running the 93 tune?

Thats a good question, if im not in boost, just going to the hamburger stand or to the get together and im just rolling on 93 or e85 i'll have to monitor the IAT I suppose. I dont see it going off the map just crusing 70mph around here and there. I think it would be a problem if i wanted to build a ton of boost and race someone.

WHat do you guys think? I've never had a non-intercooled setup, just trying something

Per a little online snooping, with no intercooler setup, seems like your options to keep IAT's/In-Cylinder temps lower are:
- run e85
- run 93/meth combo
- lower turbine side boost pressure

I'm sure you could play around with lots of different configurations, but in my very inexperienced/unprofessional opinion, I'd lean towards running e85 instead of 93, if it's available in your area. Less complicated than running 2 separate meth systems, and potentially more cost efficient (depending on how much street driving you plan to do).

Or, if you're worried about space/packaging you could do a water to air intercooler set-up

i dont intend to eve run 93, just e85 or meth, not really a combination of e85 and meth, just one or the other depending on what im doing.

2nd i have a boost controller, and on the street i've always had to have the boost pretty much all the way down anyhow

I think it will be fine, gonna find out either way.

I have plenty of space, I just dont think its gonna increase my ET's that much.

Not worth the money to et ratio to buy a badass air to water intercooler and put it all together.

Car is working very well right now, 1.30 is the best 60', q45 diff, q45 pass axle, tt300zx driver axle, s13 subframe, IDS all around, ISIS bars in back.

Its about .04 away from being where I set my pretty lofty goal. I'm extremely surprised at how fast this car is. For some thrown together stuff in my garage its fast

Nice man,

We've gotten down to 1.20 60' on the Q45 diff, but that was with a Kaaz LSD and with the S14 subframe. Our new set-up is a explorer 8.8 with custom axles and a spool, hopefully we can hit into the teens on the 60'.

I'm curious to see how long your diff lasts, we were making 1150hp at the wheels through a powerglide and spraying the hell out of the car on launch and it lasted about 5 good hits before is stripped the ring and pinion.

What was the weight on your ride? I dont think mine has made enough power to cross 1150 yet. I'm leaving 4500-4700 been playing around with moving the RPM and about 6/7#. That gets me 1.30. Been 131@3000#. So not quite 1000 hp probably. Are you doing a solid axle 8.8 or irs 8.8? Theres a guy on the strictly drag 240 facebook page with a r232 or what ever it is diff that has been 1.15 pretty repeatedly I think

I dont know what the difference in the s13 and s14 subframes are. My subframe is all stock, i have some sikky solid bushings but I haven't put those in yet. It still drops down like an 1" when you jack up the rear.

THe q45 diff is just a piece I got out of one of our local junk yards, didnt really look at it, just slapped on my s13 cover, popped it in the car and went racing. I think i put some of that really stinky friction modifier that you run in the LSD 8.8 ford stuff in

The rough current weight on the car is 2800lbs and that's wet weight with driver. I film the events so I don't know the super techy details such as launch RPM. The car will have the IRS 8.8 since it fits well and the domestic aftermarket is crazy abundant, there's no reason to run OEM Japanese parts on a competition car, we kept the IRS to keep the purists happy, but compromised a bit haha.

The S14 frame is wider and has better suspension geometry, someone smarter than me could explain it better I'm sure but the gist I get from it is that it handles power well and put it to the ground more effectively.

It is a bolt on for the S13 chassis though if you ever wanted to upgrade.
