Best s14 rear end solution for ~1000 hp

within the next weeks i plan on swapping a fully built stroker rb25 in replacement of my current stock rb25.

my current rear end setup is an aluminum driveshaft connected to a j30 diff and s13 5 bolt axles

what i want is a solution that will be good for upto 1000+ horsepower but not too crazy that would make the driving experience terrible, since it IS a street car that i would daily drive in the summer. i would be making 700-800 whp on pump fuel and later on if i were to kick it up to e85, i would not want to have to replace the entire rear end yet again..

i was thinking q45 diff and 5 bolt axles. im not sure as i am somewhat unfamiliar with the rear end . there, i said it. now dont be a meanie i honestly just want recommendations and suggestions. any and all help would be nice.

find me the perfect solution!!! thanks

Your best bet is going with a full Skyline GTR rear end with the R230 diff. Thing will take a beating and I've seen folks with 1K hp R32-R34 GTR running the stock rear ends with no issue. Guys I knew who were going over 600-700 RB25s were breaking axles and fixed it by upgrading to a the beefier R230 rear end.

You'd need the subframe, diff, axles and hubs to make this work.

Q45 rear end wont do you jack shit since its still the regular R200 rear end. The weak point of the R200 rears is the axles. The splines have a tendency to twist like pretzels and snap.

r230 will not bolt in into a s14 subframe ,u need to do alot of modification to make it fit,and q45 is six bolt style axle ,but look luck finding a 300zx tt axle and even know is a r200 u problem will not be the diff will be the axles braking, gtr and q45 share the same splines on the axles thats why people upgrade to them ,trust me i dont need more than a q45 axle and tt axles along with the q45 diff ,i personaly have made 900hp and have lunch the car a bunnh of time and my axles are still here i could even send u some video if some cars running low 8's and even 7's on the same set up

I don't think the rb will have the torque to break axles during launch.

But I could be wrong.

I would say driveshaft shop's axles, but I recall Stew breaking them on his LSx car a couple times?(correct me if I'm wrong).

You'd need the subframe, diff, axles and hubs to make this work.

Q45 rear end wont do you jack shit since its still the regular R200 rear end. The weak point of the R200 rears is the axles. The splines have a tendency to twist like pretzels and snap.
Some corrections for the above infos :
R32-34 GTRs dont use R230 diffs, they still use R200 diffs (with diff to driveshaft joint are same as Z32 TT using 6 bolt flange, not 4 bolt flange of other R200).
R32-34 GTRs use same hubs and bearings (thick big splines) with Z32 TT.
R32-34 GTRs use same thickest but different lengths axles with Z32 TT (due to wider track and wider R230 diffs in z32 TT), axles has same 6 individual bolts axle flange to diff flange joint as Z32 TT axles, (beware that the PCDs of the 6 bolts is 2-3mm narrower in R32 GTRs axles than R33-34 GTRs axles, and R32 GTRs bolts likely to be same PCD with Z32 TT as they are from same generation production years).
R32-34 GTRs diff cover has 2 big studs mounting to subframe same as S14, S15, R33, R34, C34, C35.

So you'll need :
R32-34 GTRs or Z32 TT hubs and bearings
R32-34 GTRs diff and axles (diff and axles must be from same generation)

I have s15 subframe with R32 GTR diffs, axles, hubs, and bearings mounted in my Cefiro A31.

I have R33 GTR axles that doesnt fit the R32 Diffs due to wider PCDs of the 6 bolts on the axle flange than the R32 GTR diff flange, as described above.

My friend have complete Z32 TT subframe with the diff, axles, hubs, bearings, which we have compared to my GTR parts, hence I know the above infos.

I havent had any Q45 parts so can confirm on them, although I have read that 1 Z32 TT and 1 Q45 axles (cant remember right or left axles needed) will fit GTR diffs on S,C, and R Chassis subframe.

And yes some R32-34 GTRs have made dragstrip runs on stock rear end at over 1000 hp.

Hope this helps.

What kind of pump gas in the US (E85 excluded) do you have for that kinda power without detonation on a RB25 making that much whp LOL? Sounds like a dream, most people need E85 or Race Gas/Meth to reach that much.

Lollll best quote ive heard all day. And my current setup is a j30 and s13 5 bolt axles and a shaftmasters aluminum driveshaft.

Given all that has been said, i dont wanna swap out my entire subframe.. what if i went with an s15 hlsd, driveshaft shop 900 hp axles and my shaftmasters driveshaft? Ive heard from a few local guys that thats the best way to go.

Or maybe even a q45 diff. Also i dont wanna spend 1500 dollars on axles only for them to break..

so either z32 axles and a q45
Or z32 tt axles and an s15 hlsd
Or driveshaft shop axles with either of the above diffs. IF someone can tell me why theyre so good and how i know that they wont break on me. Also are z32 axles 6 bolt or 5 bolt? Cant remember atm. Thanks for your input gais

93 v power! Lol the shop that had the motor in their car made 769 to the wheels on pump gas without any problems to be honest. So whatever they had done, was obviously done right.

No need to swap any subframes. There would be fab work required if you wanted to run a z32TT R230 or z33 and newer R200.

Go with the Q45 VLSD or R32 MLSD with z32TT RH axle, Q45 RH axle and q45/z32 hubs.

Just out of curiosity, and i hate to piggy back on this, so I'll also post this on ls1tech and silviav8, but the thread is pretty fresh and not from 07, like every other high HP thread.

I'm wondering for myself as well. As stated above wouldnt the Ford 8.8 or 9 work? And for cheaper? Obviously with a good bit of fabbing. But i think in this instance nothing i's really gonna bolt up easily. I'm a few months away from drooping my 6.2L LQ9 in I plan on making 6-700 on boost with a super magnum. As a street car. I know that Mazworks has a 8.8 kit that they sell for high horsepower here.

http://www.mazworx.com/mazworx-240sx-8-8-irs-kit.aspx

Or maybe a 2017 or 2016 camera rear end. If keeping it nissan is a factor GTR seems the best route. Hopefully this helps in any way shape or form bud. Goodluck with the build. When u find something that works post it upppppp.

9 inch fosho...I have seen the r200 take a lot as well as the q45 and j30, but see more 9s in high hp cars on the track...do quality hollow axles too...unless you like to see how the insides come outside real fast! lol

Z33/34/G35/37/Pathfinder/Armada rear diff will bolt into an S14 rear subframe with this:

https://www.maverick-motorsports.com...rsion-bushings

Then you'll need Z33/34/G35/37 axles.

You won't break that diff. The axles, maybe launching it repeatedly on slicks, but I haven't seen it happen on a street car ever.

1000whp on an RB25? I hope you have a lot of money kid, that engine build smells like money.

some good info in here, since this thread isn's too old i'm hoping I can get a few questions answered.

1. Is it possible to bolt in the z33 diff to the s13 subframe with the maverick adapters?
2. Is it possible to use the gearing from the q45 diffs (3.5x) with the r32 differential?

I currently have the q45 diff set up in my s13, but the vlsd is pretty meh, and wouldn't mind swapping to a r32 diff if I can keep my gearing. Don't really want a cd009 with a 4.xx rear end.

Update for 800hp.

I ended up getting some dss 900hp axles.
And will be going j30 diff. The gear ratio is good. And it's pretty damn strong.

Or like said above get the z34 diff, and use some of those badass conversion bushings and spacers. And have them bolt up and keep it movin.

I've come to terms that the LS would make around 650hp NA, realistic without doing some insane crazy Ken Block type shit.

So those axles will be very good as will the diff.

add all this together and it will never break no matter what you throw at it. this is a bulletproof setup. I'm going down this route very slowly, if you want high horsepower and wanna play with it then get the right parts and don't skimp on anything.

Update on my build

I just picked up some

-900hp dss axles from a guy in north florida
-a j30 - for now - getting the winters quick change diff later in life
-All new ISR pro arms
-A stock s14 subframe that will be reinforced with steel plates.
-Tein HE Drift coils from a zilvia member 10k front 6k rear
-Porsche 6 piston front brakes and Dodge Charger 4 piston rear brakes W/custom adapter brackets
-z32 1/16th BMC
-new SS brake lines
-used - clean and uncracked- gas tank
-new 255 walbro fuel pump
-new fuel pump assembly
-370z 14 inch sport rotors
-New brembo pads all around
-300zx e-brake and assembly W/r33 brake lines
-New energy suspension bushings for literally everything
-New 5 lug hubs all around
-New Whiteline subframe bushings
-New Suspension Techniques rear and from sway bar.

IN THE NEXT 4 MONTHS I WILL BE GETTING

-New Porsche and Dodge Charger brembo rebuild kits
-New fuel lines - will go e85 with dual 450 walbro when the LS drops in.
-New s14 Cusco full cage for the car (in order to still use the back seats)
-All New bolts and hardware for BBK
-New Battery Relocation Kit (to the rear)
-New SPL Titanium Traction Arms

I've learned if your gonna go big do it right and don't skimp. if you can afford a 1000hp RB, then you shouldn't play with your life and invest in the things that will let u play with those horses and additionally save your life. I'm only going 700hp and 650 torque NA with my LS and that's a TON for the 240 chassis already.

Totally right. It's not. But other than those expensive options I put up, I'm giving a list of what I have if anyone wants to follow it, or ask aboit it. Just trying to keep people safe, and remind them that big power has to come with big everything else.
