You set yourself up for it.

If you're not an expert, try searching "building a roll cage". You can use this wonderful tool called "google".

Did you just learn that roll cages are welded and search ebay for "welder" set to "Lowest Price + Shipping" ?

Hope that gets you somewhere in your life.

that's not a god damn welder! that's a SPOT WELDING GUN. a SHITTY one at that. it's for spot welding a quarter panel on etc. do some research, don't expect to be spoon fed. you're not going to find a welder that is good to weld in your cage for less than 500 bucks.

Or you could have stopped being a lazy asshat and done some research.

We may not be "god's gift", but some of us are damn good at what we do and actually take what we do, seriously. So when a little snot nosed punk comes along without a clue as to what he thinks he knows and starts firing off questions that have ZERO thought or common sense put in to it. We get annoyed, frustrated and become assholes. All because you lack the skills to do a simple search.

There's nothing more to it.
If you want an answer. Do some research on your own. Can't find what you're looking for? Try a little harder. Still can't find it? Then make a post. A post that doesn't indicate you're an incompetent 19 year old.

how am i a snot nosed punk? because im 19? grow up dude. "without a clue as to what he thinks he knows" ..i asked if it could weld something i never said i knew anything. Firing off questions? i asked one question. spoon fed? sorry dude but i didnt ask you guys welding techniques or anything i simply asked if it was a good gun and you all go on some kind of rage. obviously i came to ask you guys because you know what your doing, if you had a business and customers came up to you and asked a question would you tell them to fuck off and find the answer themselves? i dont think so, have some goddamn respect because i gave everyone here some by assuming you guys were great at what you do so i asked the "experts"

i mean damn if someone comes up to me and asks how to put a turbo kit/coil overs/drop engine/etc. on their car, im not going to tell them to do research im going to help them because i have a passion for cars, but i guess thats just me, i help when i can because i enjoy being someone who can help other people for the same passion i have. with that said im ending arguing with you guys because its retarded.

kid, please take a hike, if someone came up asking you for knowledge, i'm sure they'd leave being retarded. you don't know shit, if you knew how to do any of those things then you would know at least something about welding. wtf is a welding gun, real welding isn't a god damn plug in gun.

the reason people are so pissed off at you is because you were so far off it makes them, and me sick

it's do it yourselfers like you, we assume, that ruin industries
there is a reason people will pay 2-5k for a well built roll cage
there are entire schools dedicated to building such things

don't ask if you have no actual interest in the subject
it is apparent that you do not

welding is a skill that you become proficient at over the coarse of many years
cage building uses that and many other skills that do not come to you overnight

if you actually have an interest in it do more research
come to a conclusion that it is either left to professionals or you can go through a long process of trial and error

the answer is not here, nor does a comprehensive answer exist on the internet

who cares if youve been wrenching since before you had a permit. ive been welding since 15 and im just about to start my own cage/tube front end. it seems like youre expecting to just pick up a cheap "gun" and make a cage. stick to pvc piping and pool noodles. im sure those would do a better job at protecting you in a crash than any cage you build would.

Ok here is the deal. The guys on here are pretty much the best at what they do, and when someone who knows nothing about welding asks about building a cage...or any safety equipment it makes them angry.
Lets assume for a minute that you know nothing about ballistics, industrial fabrics, or sewing...would you try to build a bullet proof vest and test it yourself? Driving with a poorly designed/ fabricated cage is even more dangerous than with no cage at all, because you have a false since of security.
Cage building is an art. Many hours go into research even before we pick up one tube. I have been welding longer than I haven't and I am still learning every day.
For sure your first welding project should not be a piece of safety equipment.

^^^^ agreed if you ask intelligent questions you'll get intelligent answers and dont try building a cage if you dont know how to weld it wont be safe and you could die if you wreck or roll your car
