Crap, I would have paid to ship these cars to my friend in Japan, sell them and split the money or something. Anyway, sorry to see you going through all this.

The cool thing to come out of doing all the crash test stuff would have been the ability to register S15's in the states. Not each individual one, but the whole country, you know? Like some of the R33's are.

But he would have needed more than one to get that done. I'm not sure just how many they would need, but one would not suffice.

For that vintage at least 3. Front, Rear, Side. If it was newer you would have to go through all the frontal offset crap.

USBP and Customs got a lot of money post 9/11 for enforcement. Sure the intention was to protect us from them terrorists. But the money is for everything they do.

You did what you had to do and in the end, it's just a car.

Just out of curiosity, why did you take the cars out on public roads knowing very well that they were illegal?

before the final crushing I would of pulled the motor then sent the car on its way, but it most likely wasnt allowed or else he would of done it. Sad story, but there's alot of good performance JDM cars that wreck and total out. Its not like its the only good s15 that hit the junk yard. Just another s15 that bites the dust.

They were legal but in the business name. Once the business closed down and it's manufactures license expires the petition use bond expires.

lolwut?

These were mass produced cars. If I were to go to a busy street close my eyes and throw a rock, chances are I would hit either a skyline or a big toyota sedan with a 1jz in it.
They aren't rare cars, they just didn't make it to America. I've seen and heard of people junking them because they didn't want to have to pay for jci before they PCS'd or didn't want to go through the hassle of selling.

OP sucks that you had to crush them, but at least you have your priorities straight. I wouldn't go to jail over a car, no matter how much it cost

Question, couldn't you have told the crusher to go easy on the cars? That way you could come back and buy some stuff that was still good? I think if I was in your shoes I would have not shed tears , but cried. Sad indeed. This is the problem with our government, they are more serious about little issues then BIG issues that stand in the way of making our Country a better place.

Same here. I would have redlined the hell out of that sr until those poor bastard rocker arms turned into a smoothie. Also, would have swapped some stuff like the lsd. We all know nobody would have looked under the car.

I agree

I own a r32 skyline and if that day ever came. I would not part w/ mine. simply because I love the car, but in each situation I have read there is always underlying truths that you will never fully understand until your in the situation.
So dont talk down on a fellow zilvian about what he should've done.
Because all in all the cars are gone and whats done is done.

Were you not able to keep the supra? I thought because the name "supra" was made in the united states? Thought that's how they did it with Honda/Acura cars, also it's funny how we can't have these cars on US soil but the Japanese engines pass customs all the time, lots of those were not made in the US.

OP I respect what you had to do, I'd probably do the same if I was in that position, these "kids" don't get it, the federal government arent like your local state government, you will go to jail, driving the car taking any parts from those cars, and I was reading someone saying they would have made it like a different car with a "conversion" are you an idiot? Re-tagging a government vehicle? These were not legally the OP's cars they still belonged to the government/customs that's like taking a Chicago police car, leaving it looking like a police car, changing the vin number and telling the city of Chicago it was your car when you get pulled over.

OP sucks you couldn't keep your cars and your job, maybe one day we all can have our dream cars in our garages legally.
