I am replacing my clutch and I wanted to get my flywheel either resurfaced or buy a whole new aluminum one. Can you guys give me some pros and cons about each and what you would recommend

Flywheel Pros: The less power needed to speed up the flywheel the more power available to speed up everything else (rotors, clutch, driveshaft, wheels, tires, car, etc.).
Flywheel Cons: The lighter the flywheel is, the harder it is to get the car moving from a stop (just requires a somewhat higher RPM before the clutch is let out - which wears the clutch faster).

My clutch is literally burning out so I'm installing the ACT clutch in pair w/ the Fidanza flywheel.  Should be installed by 20-22 October.  I'm installing myself & will keep you all updated...

Why would a lighter flywheel be harder to turn?

The only con I can think of is you mpg will suffer somewhat.  Since the flywheel is lighter, it doesn't have as much intertia...which means it's easier to turn...but it's easier to make it stop turning, too.  So it's easy to get it started, but it don't want to continue turning...so your engine works a little harder--just when you're coasting--and your mpg suffers a little.

I think the heavier flywheel with more inertia probably helps when starting, because it loses less power when the clutch is engaged. The lighter flywheel on the other hand stops turning easier, so when the clutch is engaged, you have to give it more gas to keep from stalling.
