Helpp! Differential swap issue, 300zx diff makes grinding noise

So I had a non turbo 300zx diff and swapped out the open. Put everything back and filled it with 2 qtz of gear oil. Drives fine but makes a loud grinding noise after moving into second gear. Any tips or advice? Might just weld the old one and put it back in

Yeah that's what my buddy had told me when we drove it down the street. Could it be that I put too much oil or not enough? if the diff is bad im thinking of putting the open back on welded.

I just swapped mine out also for a lsd and it makes grinding noises when I turn left or it the car is loaded. Are lsd rear ends supposed to make noises?

Hmmm. I can drive the car fine and actually feel a difference. Just that grinding noise. I put everything back together the way it was. Ill drive it one more time before I get under there and pull it out again. unfortunately don't have a garage. Paint209 how long did the noise last??

I'm not sure, but it wasn't that long. probably a couple weeks.
