s13 sr20 swap in s13 help

ok im new in the nissan game, im switching from honda, im looking at a close to stock, non raced s13, my question is, i have probably 6k, and ill have more after working just 6k ill have soon, should i get a stock or near stock ka s13, upgrade a couple parts, and save up for a sr20 redtop turbo engine swap, will i be able to get an sr20 turbo at safe boost, for 3500 installed or less? or should i buy a s13 with sr no turbo, and do the turbo myself? im new just trying to get help, ive looked online but knowone is too helpful.

but i want a finished product of a white or black s13 hatch, stock interior and exterior, some rims, good quality coilovers, and an sr20det with like 7psi boost or something, im looking for a daily/weekend warrior, 6k as of now, where can i get a swap in california/los angeles?

please hel thank you

hey man im new here too, i just picked up a S13 hatch... the lil advice i could give you is just basic tuning knowledge: Figure out your goals and not just "i want a lil power and fun to drive", figure out your HP and TQ goal to within +-25. From there you should choose your engine but not based in simple he said she said, Research each motor you are considering and base your choice on proven results that will get exactly what you want and keep an open mind about choices.

The simplest choice would be a SR20DET if you must have a SR, im gonna push the ka

1st - 7psi is stock boost
2nd - this is Zilvia you will not be spoon fed here
3rd - if you have no knowledge of Nissan I suggest you start reading the forums before you buy a money pit.
4th - if you can't do the work yourself and SR is not for you.
5th - you can get a stock swapped s13 for around 5-6K so if you spend 6K on a high mileage beat on KA 240 you need to be slapped across the face.

I'd like to know your logic behind this considering a STOCK T25 maxes out at 14psi. Stock boost is 7-8psi with the stock wastegate.

Correct, wastegate spring is 7PSI.

"Stock" or "OEM" intended boost pressure is 11PSI. Increased via solenoid mounted on passenger (for RHD) strut tower.

See lengthy discussion here.

Lets not spread wrong information, otherwise new members such as the OP will become confused when reading/searching (which is the proper thing to do, take note OP) and then post useless threads.

First bit of advice, don't listen to most of these responses from the guys that are teasing you. They're punks who don't even have a college degree, backyard mechanics, and think they know their shit. PM me and I'll help you out, don't ask these ass wipes.

BTW, there are many SR swaps in S13 and S14 for your goals, under 6K. Problem you're going to have though is getting this thing emissions tested and passed in Cali. In Florida there is no issue with that.

s13 sr swap into an s13 shell, or s13 with ka

ok, i have a question,
if i chose to buy an s13 and i wanna swap an sr in it,
is it easier and cheaper to just get a shell?
or should i just get a stock ka and do a swap?

which one is easier and better on the wallet?

the shell is better if its full and intack lower price for swap
but if u get a running ka car for low u can always post motor up for sale video it running
get some money back
and continue ur sr20det swap
ive learned one thing about sr20dets
if u cheap out u get cheap results
if ur take care and spend where its important
u will get a reliable car thats really fun to drive
daily or not
I DAILY MY S13 W SR20DET SWAP AND ITS SO MUCH FUN
LIKE 3 YRS...ONLY ON MY SECOND SR
BUT A BLACK TOP OR AN S14 SR WILL BE UR BEST BET SINCE THERE NEWER ENGINES
WITH LESS WEAR
ITS 2011
REDTOPS R WORE THE HELL OUT BEFORE U OR I GET ONE
GO BIG OR WASTE IN THE LONG RUN

yes, like JDMRIDDAZ just said, if you buy cheap ebay parts you will get shitty results
it might seem like the good parts are over priced but compared to how much your going to have to spend to fix whatever the cheap parts broke, it pays off

go big or go home, or in your case go back to honda

buy a clean body with stock ka.

-dont worry about the motor, just as long as it runs. your really wanting a sr anyways, this is just to get you around.
-try and get the body as stock as possible, this way you know everything that you did to the car. your not having to fix the problems some other guy created.
-look at the unibody near the exhaust manifold under the brake master cylinder, leaking fluid for a long time, lots of rust can form.

there are a couple places to buy sr20's from. but you really should save up for an entire front clip and have the company your buying from take everything out for you. this way you get the stock intercooler and piping. cool things like the boost pressure solenoid. and if you live somewhere it helps to pass emissions, you get all the egr equipment (however, a custom pipe will have to be fabricated because it hits the steering rack.) a quality sr20det front clip usually runs for around 3000. sounds like a lot, but it's better than buying a swap off some guy for 1800, than getting stuck with a bum turbo or fried ecu.

swapping the motor in is extremely easy, (hopefully you have a hoist). wiring specialties sells both harnesses, although you really only need the main engine harnesss, for the swap. however, FRSport.com - Aftermarket Performance Parts has a walktrhough on how to do the wiring yourself. another thing to do is to replace the motor and transmission mount and definitly a new clutch kit. i kept the stock clutch cause i ran outta funds when putting the motor in, and it shitted out after only a couple months.

hope it helps...
