I've always assumed it looked something like that.

But damn, that's pretty painful. And to think, they're doing that with S15s.

How about an SR20 that looks beat to hell and back for the low low price of 2,999.99?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-SILV...8AAOSwu6tahKpa

or even better /s

An S13 sr20 for 3400

https://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-89-92-N...8AAOSwQb1bBuYa

Personally I think we should get the crème de le crème and buy an S15 SR20 in "excellent condition" for a small 4,300 /s

wait until they have a 15 or 20% off sale like today. its usually between a max of 50-100 off. but if you can get the 100 off, that's 100 saved.

some vendors have to charge that much because the seller fees are re-donk on ebay. have you ever sold anything there?

also see: drift tax.

I was going to reply right after OP created this thread and to not be so shocked because it's the same thing going on with other items people desire but have to destroy something that's working perfectly fine to extract that item. My example was elephant tusks and rhino horns.

Those I think used to be like 2200. Look how beat up looking it is though. They have an S14 notchop that looks beat up for 3k as well.

At this point I feel like I need to buy a low compression SR20 setup for like 1500 and just have it rebuilt.

JDM Hookup definitely seems to be one of the good ones. I have never bought an engine from them but have purchased other items and Dewey has always been great to work with!

Makes me feel better about spending money to properly rebuild my motor now, man prices have really skyrocketed.

Sucks to know good cars are torn apart, but like others have stated its not reasonable for most in Japan to keep them.

It it pretty wild to see the prices on SR's. I mean we all knew this was going to happen with how many people were just blazing through them, but damn. In 2010 I bought my redtop SR for $1800, complete. It's still running strong but seeing prices like this makes me wonder if I should go through a fresh rebuilt on it before she gives out on me.

Holy shit, those pics are probably 15 years old. The metal from that car has probably been recycled twice by now. I bet it's now OP's refrigerator.
