s15 n/a gearbox

hey guys,
just wondering if any1 can help me out, ive got an s15 and am thinkin to do a 5 speed gearbox conversion, ive noticed that the spec s in japan came out as non turbo and with a 5 speed.

does any1 know if this wil bolt straight up and if its the same 5 speed as the s14's as s14 gearbox's are a common upgrade for the s15.

cheers.

i guess hes looking for better gearing ? like longer gears ? im putting question marks cause im confused...I think the gears are pretty much the same or really really close...But the trans are all the same pretty much except the speedo location but either way your speedo is on the rear correct ? So you can pretty much slap what ever trans you want on...

the 6 speed is weak as its the same size as the s13/s14 but there thinner cut gears to accommodate for the 6th gear. im not fussed about the ratio's i just want a stonger gearbox as im planning to take the car to around 270rwkw

the s15 gearbox is known to hold well up to 400hp

i wouldn't worry about it too much

why not just replace it once it breaks instead of worrying now haha

as my clutch is due for chaning so why buy a new clutch for a gearbox that wil probably break under the power and drag/drift treatment, s15 nismo single plate costs 1400, i can get a s15 n/a gearbox with exedy 5 puk clutch for $800

I'd think the S15 NA 5 speed would be not as strong as the S15 6 speed.

If I recall correctly the SR trans and KA trans have the same internals, just different bellhousings. I don't understand your question well. If I'm reading right you have an s15 with 6 speed and you want 5 speed? The 6 speed is weaker than the 5 speed They made the gears thinner to keep same transmission instead of lenghtining the transmission and making thicker gears. S15 6 speed have the speed sensor in the differential. So I think the s15 6 speed is the weakest of the SR transmissions?

^^^ yes u are correct, and seeing as the spec s non turbo s15 in japan came out with a 5 speed i was wondering if it was the same strength as the s14 5speed hence the upgrade
