Sr20det CAS timing problem

So I'm trying to check my cas timing on my black top to narrow down why this thing isn't starting.

The problem I'm having is, I don't have 2 links in the timing chain that are darker than the others like there should be.

Any idea why this may be? And where do I go from here?

you turn the engine so that both cyl#1 cam lobes face outwards. The dots on the cams will go 10 and 12, roughly when you do that. You then look down at the crank to make sure it shows piston 1 TDC. Count the links between the dots to make sure it is the correct number of links also.

Then stab the CAS.

Bingo. You don't need the colored links. Cam lobes facing out, crank at second link from left. Cam Dowel pins at 10 and 12.

When you put the chain on the cam sprockets count 20 link roller pins between the dots on the cam gears. Stab the CAS and you're at 15*.
