Lightweight 17x9, 4x114.3, low offset (+0 to +15) wheels that clear Z33 brakes

As the title suggests, I'm looking for Lightweight 17x9, 4x114.3, low offset (+0 to +15) wheels that clear Z33 brakes.

Thus far we have:
XXR 527 - 21.5lbs (17x9.75)
Rota Grid = 20 lbs (measured on our shipping scale)
Rota P45R = ~?
Square G8 = 21 lbs (measured on our shipping scale)
Square G33 = ~23lbs (from enjuku; they are dead on with their other weights, so I trust this)

Other options? I'm still hunting for something close to the 6UL 17x9 weight of 17.4lbs in a low offset 4x114.3 . Thus far, the lightest wheel we have is the Rota Grid at 20lbs.

The wheels you listed are not forged, nor really light weight, but not 4 lug that limits you in wheel choices.

Any particular reason you're looking to stay 4 lug? 5 lug is pretty easy to do in 2018...

as others have stated, if you move to 5 lug your selection of 17x9 wheels will open up vastly.

spend the money, go 5 lug and enjoy the entire ocean of wheels instead of the trickling river behind that wood shack in the middle of the forest

and if you want lower offset, insanely light weight AND forged wheels... save your pennies and invest in a set of Volk CE28Ns and never again worry about rotational mass!

Race series rules. We are stuck on 4 lug, hence me asking. I've looked for a while and I'm hoping someone else has a good option I haven't found.

These all seem to be 5 x 114.3 only or aren't available as 17x9, low offset? 17x9.5, x9.75, x10 would also work.

I would love to go 5 lug as others have mentioned but rules prevent it. So, what are the options for Lightweight 17x9, 4x114.3, low offset (+0 to +15) wheels that clear Z33 brakes?

Do they have to be low offset? Or are you looking for brake clearance?

If you can find them there was a run of 5zigen FNO1R-C that were 17x9+20

Thanks, I'll look at those. We do need low offset to clear the struts & brakes without spacers. Spacers are a hard no. At +15, we have a precious few mm of clearance and any major deflection could end a race event for us.

Asking to make sure you're not confusing offset with brake clearance.

You've got a good head on your shoulders. For now look for those 5zigen or you may have to consider one of the cheap low pressure cast wheels or go custom.

Thanks. The low offset is to clear the front strut without a spacer with our suspension setup. We are at the clearance limit now, so those additional 5mm will be problematic at our higher camber tracks.

I did find a weight reference for the 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x9 wheels, 20lbs.
http://www.dnjwheels.com/performance...=3868&parent=0

If true, that makes them the same weight as our Rota Grids but at higher cost. We expect to go through a few wheels per season, so cost becomes a factor long term.

Looks are mostly irrelevant. If the lightest, cheapest, most robust wheels were pink with Hello Kitty stickers all over them, that's what I'd run .

Hey OP if you need a cheap 5 lug conversion you can use 5lug adapter spacers. GK tech makes them in 20mm and 25mm. They work great considering most people run spacers even after doing a traditional five lug conversion. These are safer considering you have to punch out one of the factory lug studs and replace it with their extended stud that you need to press in your hub thus having that extra "safety" feature.

get a set of 5zigen fn01rc with 5 lug preferably. Youre gonna be hard pressed to find low offset 4 lug with like ^bryan ^. I have been looking forever and never found it. In the end i went with 5x114.3 17x9 +15 215/45

WE CANNOT SWAP TO 5 LUG. As mentioned previously, our series rules prevent us from running 5 lug. 5 lug is not an option. Hence the original question.

After reviewing the 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x9 wheels, they are the same weight as the Rota Grids we already have but at double the cost. They offer no apparent advantage, so we will pass on that option but are grateful that another viable option was provided here that we did no previously know about.

We do not run spacers on our dedicated race car.

We have found several low offset 4 lug wheels as noted in the original post. We are looking for well made options that weight less than 20lbs.

That, and you can't buy FN's new anymore. Rota's you can.

I too when through this same struggle years ago. Ended up finding one of the last new sets of 4-lug 17x9 FN01R-C. Also found a set of used 4-lug Falken Hanabi 17x9 +20. Never weighed them, but they were noticeably heavier than the FN's.

Fortunately, the market for good sized 4-lug wheels got a bit better with Square wheels. But it's still not great. This is sad to say, but you're probably best off with the Rota's.

Update: Do not buy Rotas for ACTUAL racing. In our last race, 3 of 4 cracked. 1 of 4 suffered damage due to a failing LR wheel bearing. Road Racing at Road Atlanta. We were just happy everyone walked away safe after this madness.

16x9 an option?
http://www.tf-works.com/rs-watanabe-...heels-16x9-13/

Or these are 17x9 low offset, but pricy.
https://motivejapan.com/rs-watanabe-...e-17x9-13.html

Pricy though, at ~19 lbs for the 17.

Thanks for the option!

Our current brake package demands 17's for better or worse. I'm about to buy a set of G8 wheels @ $500 for a set of 4 wheels (currently the best wheels we've run / found.).

Given that we expect to damage our wheels periodically (as we do many thousands of race miles), $2836 for a set of these is worth 5.6 sets of the G8 wheels. 2lbs is a nice weight savings but that cost is a bit much.

Wow, that's scary. How many laps was the race? Not that it really matters, just curious.

The fourth picture screams loose lug nuts, but the other three of cracked barrels I can't defend lol.

What about Motegi? As from what I've seen they offer their wheels in any size, offset, and bolt pattern that you want. And now that you've seen the risk of running cheaper wheels, maybe it's beneficial to invest in a quality set. That way you don't have to expect to be replacing them all the time.

The fourth one failed due to lugs on a failed wheel bearing per the description, yes.

What about Motegi? I've not seen any wheels that fit our criteria as listed in the first post. Our issue is finding wheels that meet our needs. We didn't deliberately go cheap here and good or bad wheels will be consumables that we replace all the time, not an investment. This batch of Rotas represent a special kind of failure we haven't run into previously. #enduranceracing

If you have any Motegi or other quality wheels that match our criteria, I'd love to hear about them!:

Well then, that's really weird that the Motegi MR221 Tracklite is available in 7, 8, and 10 inch wide, but not listed for 9 inch wide...
I mean since they make any offset and pattern you want, I say give them a call and inquire about a 17x9, wouldn't hurt anyways.

I guess the question now is, what racing series, and how have we not seen the car yet?
