Thumbs down Another my 240sx won't start thread

Okay so my 1989 240sx won't start and I can't figure out why. The battery is fine and all the lights work. When I go to start it and turn the key all it does is click below the air cleaner at the fuse box. I don't understand why it won't start. The fuses are fine and so is the starter. This is my only car, so I need to fix it as soon as possible. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Are you SURE the starter is good?

Also, how old is the positive battery cable?
reason I ask is because back in ancient times (2002), my positive cable was corroded on my S14 and it just didn't carry enough juice to the starter.

make you sure you have proper voltage coming from the battery to get the starter to work. or possibly your starter stop working.

it happened to me that my car stopped working and all i hear was click. i had a spare starter laying so i just went ahead replaced it. 30 min job. and it started

Check the nub on your clutch pedal that presses the clutch safety switch, it's probably gone. 99% sure that's your problem.

also try to jump your starter to make sure that the flywheel engages eliminating a bad starter

check the signal wire

clean up battery terminals

try in that order and let us know what happens

I think you are just hearing ignition on relays clicking. You can always check the starter signal wire to see if you're getting 12V to that with a test light.

1) check to see if anything is loose, if so tighten.
2) check voltage.
3) check all fuses inside the car. who knows you could stumble upon something.

Voltage means nothing. Take your battery to an Advance Auto, Orileys, something like that. They can (for free) properly test for Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) Aka: what you really need to turn your engine over.

You would not believe the amount of batteries I see that are at 12.6v but are only at 100 or less CCA.

ok so i'm not sure if this thread is dead but i need help and don't want to start a new one so here goes:

i have a 91 fastback s13 that i pulled the KA out of and put an SR into. i put in a new lower and upper wire harness from wiring specialties and plugged them in to see if the new engine would at least turn over and nothing.

i haven't plugged in any of the emissions plugs because i've gotten rid of all of them, i haven't plugged in any of the coolant hoses or vacuum tubes either as this is just to see if the new engine would crank.

battery's new, had the starter tested, everything looks to be in order but when i turn the key: nada.

my question is what the hell do i do now?
