My S13 Blacktop SR20det swap came with a Mines tuned E5 ECU.

From what I've found out it's tuned for 99 octane in japan. Which is the equivalent of 94-95 octane in the US. When I started the car for the first time I dumped 100 octane in with my 91 to get a mix of about 96 octane. The car runs and drives fine. No bucking, perfect idle, no bogging, and seems pretty fast. I'm taking the car to do some dyno pulls to make sure everything is in working order. I'll be trying different octane fuels as well. So if anyone wants to know because they have a Mines ECU(they can be tuned for different things) I'll let you know my findings. I've already contacted Mines and they got back to me, but never told me what my ECU was tuned for.

The only thing I don't like so far is the fact that the redline is pushed up to 8k, and I don't really know if the car is tuned for something I don't have. Does anyone have experience with the Mines ECU's, has anyone blown a motor with one? Also can you remove the Mines Chip and return the ECU to factory settings?

They are just standard ECUs with a stage1-ish mapping. redline to 8k ... who cares ? the engine does not produce power past 6500k at best anyway, just shift before.

Any updates from figuring the octane differences and any dyno numbers?
