Possible any of you have a loose 1uz swap mount you could measure the height of?

I'm going to do a solid rubber mount, to which I'll post a "how to" thread. But id like to be in the ball park when I drop the engine.

sorry for the late response i was on vacation. I just measured my bret collins mounts and they are 5 inches in height (in the middle and both ends, consistently 5 inches)

excuse my misspellings

Hey thanks! I eyeballed a CAD representation and figured a hair under 5", awesome to have confirmation. I'm starting to think my idea is a little hokey but it'll work, just progressively getting simpler.

AFAIK the water pumps should be the same, timing kit is the same for my 05 tundra and a 00 gs400. Dunno about oil pumps. Cross reference rock auto?

Getting my fuel rails with return line in this week and doing the timing belt while I clean the garage to accept the car.

2uzfe still used a return line while running a similar fuel pressure, figured its better than a vette/audi filter or modifying returnless. I'm gonna run the vvti 1uz in stockish trim for a while before I do anything to it. I might, have a 2nd rail setup coming.....but we'll see.

Aisin was OE toyota, and comes with a Mitsubishi belt i think, havent recived mine yet but it was $162. I believe it was recommended on lextreme or clublexus.....one of the two.

Aisin timing component kit TKT021, for anyone else that might read this. That comes with a new tensioner as well, its like $20 less without the tensioner.

Impact gun, the cheapy corded electric ones are great for doing suspension and whatnot. Not a true replacement for air but much cheaper and have their place.

using the collins kit for the ka, do you really have to back the transmission to only using 2 bolts? because of the strut bar? the driveshaft i got is shorter than my driveshaft shop 1 peice, reason i got it was for the lighter aluminum material.

my strut bar is off so can i still put it in the stock position and just use my stainless steel one?

anybody run into that? ill search through the thread

Talkin the mount? If you use his engine mounts yea. I personally want a rubber insulator so I'm gonna do a stock location trans and another mount hole for 3/4" farther back. Might not be as far back as collins kit but I'm running full interior and just making a weekend fun car. The 3/4" would allow the abs driveshaft/ non abs diff combination if I ever feel like going that way in the future. Only other option is to make a trans mount bracket.

I would assume you could push the engine farther forward if the mounts allow it. Do you mean sway bar? How bad is the interference?

Yeah i rather use the 4 holes, is it safe to use just the two holes?...i was thinking of making an extension and get a alot welded on the cross member to bolt the two front holes for support

Well you're using the solid mounts, right? So the engine won't twist so much if even at all. The bolts for the bracket are just holding whatever weight is on the trans mount. If you dont trust it I'm sure you could use angle iron and some square tube to create your own bracket much like the vq swap trans brackets I've seen. Collins was drifting on this, its probably fine.

Oh woah this thread is still alive. I don't even remember when I last posted.

Honestly most of this thread has moved over into FB groups.

I'm working on some interesting group buys for 1uz swap stuff.

I made mine outta some 1/4 angle iron all solid, same for the trans mount. i also use 2 bolts instead of the 1 to the cross member. Its a very smooth engine. I still have stock drive shaft with a stock welded diff.
