BoostinIX's Build - LS3 S14.5
Part of sponsor deal was posting builds on multiple forums, including this one. Copying and pasting from other sub-builds. Somehow I forgot Zilvia!
I say sub-build, because I'm not pasting every relevant/worthwhile pic from the 103 pages of the current main build/randomness. (HERE) First: Le backstory Started with a 97 auto, circa 2010. Did the usual. 5spd, JDM body bits, wheels, exhaust, Nismo coils, suspension arms, etc etc. Nothing crazy. Came out to Summit for my first drift clinic 2/11. Came home and ordered an SR from Zerolift Spent a few months rebuilding the motor. Forged internals, .20 over, PnP'd turbo, etc etc. Ended up with 255/255 @ 11.5PSI. Spending too much time at Sikky = getting crazy ideas. Like a working S15 cluster. Went to 100 Drifters of December, had a little boo-boo. Found my turbo was on the way out, time for upgrades! Millennium Jade Bye bye kouki Hello S15 So long sunroof Coated Tomei Mani/elbow, Tomei M7960 Back to dyno, 350/350 Not satisfied with crappy fitting body, had to redo it. New wheels and livery Rented out baseball stadium parking lot for first actual 1-1 drift instruction. Brought Rapper Dan and Alan Brentzel to do the teaching Finally made it back to 100 DoD for some actual track time, and lots of it New daily = more commitment to track car Striped sound deadening and new interior goodies New Z32 setup, powdercoated, Hawk Pads/DBA rotors, Mu shoes, the works Alexander Fabrication custom FLCA Corgi mechanic approves Problem: Evo 3 sits too high. Solution: Super short custom brackets and 18" cargina. Drift time It's the loooooooooooove tap Interior finally cleaned up Got ahold of Quickstyle for a Wise Square front bumper. One of 2 in the states. Woooooo Back to Alexander Fabrication for a custom rear bash bar/jack point [hr] New wheel weight Nananananananana drift dooooooog Drifting? Drifting? Drifting? Time for some Dzus love Alexander Fabrication half-cage Met up with Takata at Formula D: NJ, came home with 6-pt's for the car If you're still reading? Power to you. You need a life :P You sir, are not long for this world.

Picking up one car = getting to take both out
Final days of the SR = Photoshoot with Lemonade Photography to send it off right /dies from reliving and regurgitating 3 year in 30 minutes. I skipped a tooooooooooooooooooooon, but this is a V8 thread, not an SR thread. Time for some more current goodies. After going through a beyond-dead LS1, and another meh LS1... ... decided to just do it right, same way I did the SR. Tony Stark Syndrome engage. New LS3 bare block from GM Bye bye SR. Got ahold of Yury @ Wiring Specialties. I used their harness on my SR. They make OEM-style harnesses to better-than-OEM standards. Nothing like a drop-in harness that doesn't have broken brittle connectors. When it came to the LS- they outdid themselves. Cue their new LS Pro Harness Even got featured on their page. http://www.wiringspecialties.com/caseyn.html Drop-in conversion harness, with provisions for AC, speedo conversion, fuel pump and fan relays, the works. Oh, hello LS3 intake. Got bored one day. Removed turbo electronics and airbag. Test-fitting accusump locations Time to go shoppiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!! What's not pictured: FBParts awesome completion kit. Been giving me awesome prices, and has eeeeeeeverything I could want. New GM parts cheaper than summit too. Can't beat it. Waiting on a Wilson 95mm throttle body and new GM CNC'd LS3 heads to get in. Rotating assembly is off at the shop getting balanced. Have to give thanks to the sponsors helping make this possible. Seeing as the build threads coming after the build started, some goodie shots of new parts coming in:
LS2 Windage tray, LS3 MLS head gaskets, LS3 tensioner LS3 water pump, ARP crank bolt, GM slave cylinder, Melling high pressure oil pump, Mishimoto 19 row oil cooler LS front/rear covers with cam, crank, and map sensors. LS3 valley cover, LS7 lifter kit Got bored, flocked the dash Spent 3 months dealing with GM issues. They decided to send me an LS2 block instead of an LS3, and refused to return it/exchange it. While I waited... Heads arrived and got some hardware. CNC'd LS3 heads with Manley dished valves, Brian Tooley springs, milled for 11:1. Custom grind Comp Cam also came in. Nick Williams 92 ftw What's the matter bud? This should cheer you up. Tracked down a semi-fsm-like PDF for the LS3, and of course, stuff I missed. So much yet to get..... Did some wiring. Decided I don't need the fuse block in the glove box anymore, since all that would be on it are gauges. Ran power, and put a momentary interrupt switch where the fan override was. (GM fans are ECU controlled). Now when gauges go crazy and need resetting, can just push a button. (Couldn't reach fuse block glove box anymore due to harnesses...lol.) Then again, hoping some better grounds and notched cups to avoid pinched wires will help avoid future craziness. Grabbed LED's to try in the S15 cluster, see how that goes. Gotta fill the gap in the wedge socket with some dumbdumb to keep the LED in place. Damn funny T6.5 JDM sockets.... After that, run the wideband wiring, and everything can be reinstalled short of the glove box. Waiting to be able to move the heater core for harness passthrough. Also hunting down possible locations for the Accusump. Not sure if I'm in love with the under-dash setup. Maybe trunk passthrough deck? IDK. Took the cam and timing kit to the machine shop, let them degree it vs. spending 100 bucks on timing parts just now. Ordered some ARP head bolts and some random bits. Also ordered adapter fittings to turn the LS oil pressure sending unit into a 1/8 NPT fitting for my aftermarket gauge. Snagging ~200 in misc missing parts/hardware from GM, some Comp truninons, new set of coil packs, as well as Holley fuel rails and valve covers. Noms. Hai. Holley valve covers in black crinkle and new coils. Holley fuel rails Slow progress while I wait on the block. Pulled the AC system, clutch master cyl, firewall weight (can't believe that was still there). Finished wiring the gauges, no way to test it but it should be right, took notes when I pulled everything. Still need to knock out a few more loose wires and I'll be done, about ready to start putting gauges back in. Cluster LEDs were shit. Gave it to a friend to solder some actual bright LEDs into the wedge bases. Pulled the rear bash bar and battery. Bash bar is 2" too big for the PC oven at my usual place, have to try another. Battery system needs an overhaul after the overcharging alternater puked acid everywhere. Batt box and big batt will likely go in favor of a Braille and matching cage Xmas preview: Test fit the Holley rails. Noms Comp trunion upgrade Final hoooooone Decided I've reached the limit of what I can be happy with as far as smart phone pictures, got an upgrade. Toying with DSLR/Lightroom Finally painted the Alexander Fabrication rear bar in Metallicast Red Oh. Herro. ARP rod bolts, main studs, Compstar rods Hoooome OEM MLS ftw How to remember you've torqued something...On ARP head studs Heads - Check Gettin there. Mmmm All buttoned up. Need to get pushrods, injectors, balancer, and the Sikky kit. Not bad for a nights work though. Pulled the BMC, remaining hard lines, and got the first sheet of Reflect-a-cool onto the firewall Soon. Also opened up the windage tray bolt holes for ARPs, installed that, and headlights got their final polish before getting clear-bra'd. Day 2 - Pass side covered to the edge, drivers side 95%. Next comes the exhaust slope, trans tunnel, and the underside.

Lol not since I bought this car :P
Quote:
In other news: Ordered new spark plugs, alternator, clutch, flywheel, and in-bay brake lines. Also got the cluster done....finally. Issue was how little light both the OEM bulbs and the cheapie LEDs put out After trying to get LED's soldered into the t5/t6.5 base (Which destroyed the bases, tried an OTS backup. Problem 1: Too big for base. Easily fixed. Problem 2: LED is too big to fit through T5 hole. Solution: Put in from the inside. Yaaaaaaaaaaay it works Problem 3: Acrylic cover standoff diffusers are too long to fit with these LEDs. 5 minutes with the dremel took care of that. Final result: I can actually see my cluster. Gave me a chance to power up the gauges, which worked also. Wooooo

Thanks everyone!
Small update. Made my first AN lines today. Steam port kit is a pain to fit, but it'll work. Crossover came out nice. Got the last of my fuel setup figured out, MAF came in so I can start making the intake. Got the Turn-One PS pump on the way, new alternator installed. (Both with baller blasted T-Nasty brackets) . Secured a Braille B2015 from my neighbor for cheap, and arranging the Mishimoto goodies to be on the way. Dropped off the PCM for the startup tune. Car goes up the driveway and motor install ~15th. Also the day I order the last of the things to make it start Close.

Nice, I am doing an LS3 swap into my 300ZX but I am keeping the Gen IV harness and whatnot. It would be awesome if I could get some info from you, I am about to start ordering a lot of little parts to finish up my list of parts! Looks like an awesome build!

^^Thanks!
^PM me what you need and I can try. Small update. TurnOne PS Pump courtesy of my friend Chris at Speedparts.biz. Noms. Also went to Mishimoto HQ today to help drop this off: Local R&D ftw. Place is kinda neat. Squared away my cooling setup while I was there. Injectors will go in tomorrow. To make the local 240 BBQ, changed up the build list a little, should be very doable at this point. 1 week and it goes in.

So. For those that haven't heard, things are at a screeching halt. Found out on Friday I'm being laid off in 2 weeks. Goal now is to find gainful employment while turtle-ing on the remaining funds/whatever I get for unemployment and stall as long as can before having to look at selling stuff off. Stay tuned.
