VQ35de help

I have a 06 rev up blew the motor.
Swapped in a VQ35de out of an 04 using the original harness and ecu.
the question I have now is will the car start using the old ecu or will I need to purchase an ecu to match the motor?

thanks guys

You won't be able to use the HR (High Rev) ECU with the older non HR engine. You also have the issue of the security system associated with the key transponder. Are you going to be using your old key?

I'm not using a HR ecu. I'm using an ecu out of an 06 Z. And yes I am using the same key.

So you're using an 06 non HR ECU (with matching key) mated to a non HR vq35de from an 04 Z? Am I understanding you correctly?

Yes that is correct. Will the car start with that combo?

You know there are 3 different VQ the Z33 came with, right?
- The normal, first gen DE
- The Rev-up
- The HR

OP blew up his orginal Rev-up and swapped in an older DE. I don't know the answer to this question for sure. But I wish the OP good luck.

i see this is way old but i just went through something similar with my g35. 03 g35 de spun bearing. found a deal on a 05 350z de. couldnt get the car to start. think my g35 ecu was shot. swapped in the 05 350z ecu that i got with the engine and the car still wouldnt start. i found out i was having a nats issue with the key and the ecu not being mated. either you have to go to the dealer and they give you the run around, it could be this or it could be that or the fact that you put the wrong engine in the car blah blah blah. got uprev and completely disabled the nats system so ill never have to deal with that ever again.

but to answer your question, im pretty sure you have to use the correct ecu for your engine whether its de revup or hr. and if you go from one engine to the other ie car had a de and you swapped in a revup and use a revup ecu the car will not start until you reprogram the key or bypass the nats system. symptom will be that when the key is in the "on" position the red security light will stay solid red.

hope this helps someone searching in the future as alot of what i found when i searched was "take it to the dealer ship"

I do have a nissan dealership in town but they told me they dont work on infiniti's!!!
