Arp head studs question

I know there is a lot of information on this but I am doing a head gasket on my ka and I have a few questions. Is it absolutely necessary to thread in the bolts first before putting on the head or could you line up the head and then thread them though? Just seems like it's easier that way. I've seen a lot of different answers on what to torque them too is their a definite answer to that? I'll be using the arp lube. Also what size is the nut? I think I'm going to need to buy the socket. Thank you.

1) No, it doesn't say that anywhere in the instructions just go ahead and put the head on then install the studs, and remember the threads that go in to the block are to only have motor oil or no lube at all depending on the instructions provided.

2)This is also in the instructions and if you have lost them you can look up the part number on ARP's website and get a new copy.

3) I believe it's either a 13mm or 14mm 12 point socket. Get a good one you'll be pissed if you fuck up a nut.

12mm 12 point for the original ka rap studs.
Definitely better to install studs then the head...

Learn to use Google properly. And don't go based off people on the internet. Manufacturers make install instructions for a reason.

typically, ill install 2-3 of the studs, just to guide the head into place. that way it doesn't slide around against the gasket, once you set it down.

do a thorough inspection of the threads both on the studs, and inside of the nuts. I've seen ARP send out nuts with no threads cut into them before, or damaged threads cut in them, so be cautious.

The instructions that came with the studs doesn't mention anything about tightening, loosening, and then retighting, but the link does?
