KA My KA24E-T build.

After rocking KA24DE-T for 4 years on my coupe. I've always wondered how would it be like to turbo the SOHC KA. This is actually just a side project as I'm working to finish my SR20DET build to temporarily bench my KA24DET to be fully built, To my surprise not only are they cheaper to do it's also very simple that I ended up actually doing both at the same time. Currently the KA24E-T is already running and was already been test driven with no issues. Just need to finish the custom downpipe with V-Band to complete the build. Below are the specs of the SOHC Turbo.

Engine;
- Fully stock KA24E.
- Removed all Emission components.
- EGR Block off plate.
- Butterflies removed and plugged.
- New intake manifold gasket.

Fuel System;
- Upgraded Fuel Pump.
- CA18 Top feed 370cc injectors.
- Wired inline resistors for low impedance.
- Stock FPR.
- Inline Fuel Pressure Gauge.

Turbo System;
- Gladman Performance T3 Turbo Manifold.
- Z31 T3 Turbo.
- Ebay Oil feed and return line.
- Turbo outlet cut and custom downpipe using V-Band flange.
- CX Racing FMIC Kit for SR. Modified to fit.

Tuning;
- Socketed stock SOHC ECU
- ROM tuned according to specs.
- Stock KA24E MAF.
- SAFC for fine tuning.
- Misc Gauges.

Ignition;
- NGK BKR7E ( 2 step colder ) Gapped to .32
- MSD Blaster SS coil.
- Local autostore new Wireset, Cap and rotor.

Exhaust;
- Ebay N1 Style 3" catback.
- Custom front pipe with V-Band.

Pics are from last week before I install the prepped wiring harness. I will add some more as soon as I can.

I was ka-t like you, for a day, and it felt great.

I had a very similar set-up as yours. I blew my engine, however, while I was trying to tune it with the safc.

Where did you get your tuned ecu from?

Very nice and clean KA24E-T build. I'm rockin' a KA24DET right now and next project will be a single over head cam with T3/T4. Wish me luck... hahah.

Yeah, curious about where you got your ecu tuned as well.

Sick Ka24e-t dude!! I am contemplating on KA-T on my S14 or just get an S14 SR20DET Notchback..... they are both great options, but i feel that the KA-T would be a little more in depth as far as choosing fuel managements options, like ecu tunning, while an Sr20 is pretty easy to swap and instant power.

Either is one is a good choice IMO. KA-T is preffered if you feel you have a healthy KA. Besides most of the main parts can be re purposed for an SR should you decide to go that route. as for instant power you would get more HP per $$$ spent. Only main concern is reliability. tune the car properly from the beginning and should last you for awhile.

Ive had experoance with this.... everyone on here probly has seen my thread....i boosted my KA24E.. It was fun while it lasted. and the motor was way healthy but its just not ment to be boosted for stock... Im currently building the motor up with all forged internals.. i personally wouldnt drive it just take it all out and build the motor if you serious about it. If its just a car you wanna have fun with...... then... good luck. Mines going to be stricked track. I need somthing to start me career off...

i would say the de has more potential. it's also a lot easier to find turbo parts for. my advice is build whatever came in the car. this way you don't have to deal with any extra issues, such as wiring etc....

nope... just think about what you'll need. Use: build threads, how-to's, tech articles

make a list, and check it twice.

the valve cover isn't as nice, but still has 20% more displacement then a SR.

I like single cams... with the rising price of gas it isnt worth spending thousands on a motor.

You guys still have it better than here in Canada. Our gas prices just went up again and haven't stopped. I'm still waiting for our dollar to get slightly better so I can order some shit from the states...err

My SR gets 610ish to a tank.
My RB20 got 400ish to a tank.
My KA-T got 400ish to a tank.
My KA (before it was boosted) got 550ish to a tank.

KM to a tank not MPG.

My CA was getting about 400km to a tank.
But that was running GTR injectors/ Fuel pump/ SR turbo/ Z32 MAF, and 12 psi.
Then the headgasket split like a hookers legs.

Good luck with your projects.
I'd be interested in seeing a vid of this SOHC.
