my no its not a sr'd 240sx build
hey guys ! firstly, this aint the first car that ive built, but its pretty much the first that ive done all by myself.
ive never been a fan of the whole "import" scene mainly because ive grown up being around american muscle. i honestly have no idea of what made me choose a s13 to build, maybe because theres a pretty good aftermarket support :dunno: im not the typical "zip tied, half passed build, dorifto" kinda guuy. when i do stuff i like to do it first the right time, and if not, at least learn from my mistakes and do it better the next time. edit: just so ya'll know, i have a build thread going on a local fourm and im somewhat copy/pasting over to this one. i just thought instead of copy/pasting the whole shabang id do it in sections. yes i know that a buuild/project thread that people like pics, but ima say right now that i sometimes get "in the mood" and forget to take pics , i appologize haha. anyways off to my first s13.i picked up this thing from edmonton november 4th 2010 iirc. twas a semi memorable drive back to calgary lol.. the thing was kinda haggared when ibought it, but for the price i got it for i wasnt complaning. she came with a bone stock ka24de with 203xxx KM. had a custom? log style exhaust mani w/hks external wastegate, somewhat haggared midmount intercooler, vlsd, and a JWT rom tune i believe. previous owner said it put down ~260@9psi, ran kinda rich, turbo burned a lil oil. back to my drive home, drive was pretty decent for the most part, somehow melted the vacuume line for the wastegate so she had a massive leak that ruined my fun got to reddeer ( bout half way to home to calgary ) pulled into timmies, left car running. when i came out she died. wouldnt start. absolutly no power to anything. this was about 530PM. after a hour of oulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on i called a tow truck.. took a wee bit longer than expected to come. rolled up to my garage at 142AM on the dot. what a day. lol. sorry for the little long intro. off to the pics of the first s13. i have some more pics of her around somewhere i may add whenever i find them. ended up fixing her up a lil bit. got a nistune, some 760cc injectors, rebuilt the hx35, tossed her in the dyno to get tuned, the highest we got was 296whp 312tq @11 psi. ended up roasting the clutch on the next pull and the timing was a lil wacked so we dropped her down to 10psi and she put down 276whp 285 tq and a fairly rich tune and a madly slipping clutch. got new clutch, just baaarely finished breaking it in and on my way home from orientation day at SAIT i got rearended by some old lady who ran a red light :'( September 2nd 2011 R.I.P. ended up beating the absolute shit out of her until the insurance slip came saying the car was a salvage title. most fun ive probably had. damage was to much to be worth fixing for a daily, i was gettin quotes from body shops for insurance and cheapest was 9000 with straightening the frame. i initially planned on keeping it and making it a ttrack car, but with race city (local track) gone i didnt see a point, that and the fact the passanger side of the car measured almost 4 inches shorted than the driver side stripped it to a bare chassis, literally haha. only thing left was carpet, rearview mirror, chopped up trunk and a smashed windshield. so a month and a bit went by and i got the itch to find another coupe for a project. i intially wanted just a rolling shell but i found a pretty good deal and ended up buying this. 1989 240sx w/129897 KM she came with SR20DET Red Top GT30R turbocharger ( GT30R compressor side with a GT2871RS exhaust side) HKS adjustable actuator wastegate set to 16 psi Tomei Rocker Arm Stoppers ISIS Front Mount Intercooler ISIS Aluminum Radiator Dual Electric Fans with Shroud Samco Rad Hoses HKS SSQV BOV Megan tubular Manifold XSpower turbo elbow Full 3" Exhaust to dual 4" tip Walbro 255lph Fuel pump Megan Short Shifter Battery Relocated to the trunk Megan track series Coilovers Front and Read Cusco Strut Bar circuit sports rear suspension arms Full Origin body kit 18" work wheels (FR 18X9 and RR 18X10 +24 offset all around) NRG deep dish Steering wheel im probably forgetting some stuff not a clue what she was putting down for hp but if id have to guess id say at least 300. (i dont know much bout sr's lol) decent motors, just not my cup of tea. then i started collecting parts. z32 30mm front calipers z32 rear calipers ka24de equal length t3/t4 top mount turbo manifold. i really dont have "alot" of my own money into this car. its pretty much what insurance gave me for my first one/the money i got from parting it out and selling the sr and i thought it would be soomewhat easier to stick with ka-t mainly because all i really needed is a rebuilt motor, standalone, and dyno time. i have pretty much everything else from the first one. |

I LOL'd
I don't get it. You had a perfectly running motor that was designed from the factory to handle boost, already had a pretty good turbo, yet you're pulling it to put a KA in? A little more money and you would have easily seen 350-400+ hp reliably. Also: Quote:

Good luck I guess.

It's funny to see how hysterical people get about you not running an sr20. There's a KA-t forum for a reason, some people prefer them. Either way cool build, shame your first coupe got smashed up.
