Hey guys/gals/others

I just completely redid my brake system and hubs, installed the villans drift dual caliper setup and 5 lug hubs, painted the calipers and knuckles while i was down there and installed adjustable camber and toe arms.

First question is in regard to the front slide pins on the caliper bracket, when doing the install i found the upper slide pin on both size was siezed and did not slide or even come out so i picked up new slide pins, boots, and caliper brackets, one of the slide pins has a rubber piece at the bottom, does that one go on top or bottom? I think thats the top because the bottom one that did pull out didnt have it but wanted to be sure

My second question is in regard to the rear caliper piston. How do I get it to recess back into the caliper so I can get it over the new pads? The front I did by opening the fluid res cap and using a C clamp and one of the old pads to push the piston back so i could get it over the new pads but on the back this doesnt seem to work. How do I get the rear piston back in?

Both pins should have rubber boots to keep water out, hence why yours seized in there.

For the stock calipers the piston screws in. you can rent a tool or use pliers to do so. sometimes its a pain in the ass to do.

They both had rubber boots, i mean the base of one of the pins itself had another rubber sleeve. I got the front figured out, gonna try screwing in the back soon

So on both sides the caliper pistons wont screw back in, i even rented the stupid tool and one side doesnt budge, the other side spins but doesnt recess back in. Probably going to have to take them off and swap em out at oriley or autozone for refurbs and may as well replace the lines with steel braided. I was going to flush/replace the fluid and bleed em anyways, this is just super irritating, all the aftermarket shit went on no problem and its the OEM calipers that screwed up and are gonna delay the whole thing

Sometimes you have go press on the pistons while you turn them. Also make sure you go slow at first to get the seals unstuck so you don’t shred them.
